The big story in the WNBA over the weekend was the Indiana Fever's impressive win. Not only did they snap the New York Liberty's unbeaten run, but they also got a dominant performance from second-year superstar Caitlin Clark in her return to action.

Clark scored a team-high 32 points as Indiana outpaced the defending WNBA champions 102-88. Despite a big game from Sabrina Ionescu, the Liberty couldn’t keep up. It marked New York’s first loss of the season.

On Monday’s episode of "First Take," WNBA legend Rebecca Lobo weighed in on the weekend’s action and had high praise for Indiana and Clark.

"New York and Minnesota are still the favorites to meet in the WNBA finals, but a Caitlin Clark-led Indiana Fever team could make things interesting along the way."

Lobo went further with her take.

"New York wasn’t completely whole, but even if they were, the way Caitlin played, the way Indiana played, Indiana's probably still coming out with the victory."

Clark, 23, is averaging 21.6 points, 9.2 assists and 6.4 rebounds per game in her second WNBA season. Last year’s Rookie of the Year and 2024’s No. 1 overall pick is now firmly in the MVP conversation for 2025.

Kelsey Mitchell also played a key role for Indiana, scoring 22 points on 9-for-21 shooting in 34 minutes.

The Fever will stay at home for one more game as they host the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. Indiana and New York won’t face off again until mid-July, when the Fever travel to New York for games on July 16 and 22.
