Angel Reese enjoyed a strong rookie campaign in the WNBA with the Chicago Sky, but it wasn't enough to help them find their way into the playoffs. Reese will be looking to help her team become a postseason contender in 2025, but according to WNBA legend Lisa Leslie, she has an area of her game that needs to be fixed.
Reese burst onto the scene and immediately averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game for the Sky. While there are several ways for the team to bring in talent this offseason, Reese wants to see her team target one specific player with the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming 2025 WNBA draft.
“We’re trying to get (Olivia Miles)," Reese said on her podcast "Unapologetically Angel."
While the talent around Reese could certainly stand to improve, there are also areas to her own game that need to be developed too. In Leslie's eyes, Reese needs to work on hitting her layups more consistently since she spends so much of her time playing at or around the rim.
"The biggest advice I have for you is gonna be how you shoot your layups, period," Leslie said on the latest episode of "Unapologetically Angel." "We're gonna fix that. That's fixable for you, and I think that's probably the biggest. I think your shot from the outside is improving, I love that your ball handling is good, your defense has improved."

While Reese averaged 13.6 points per game in 2024, she only shot 39.1% from the floor, indicating that her efficiency could use some improving. And again, with more of her shots coming close to the basket, getting better at hitting her layups could be the key to helping her take the next step forward individually.
If there's anyone who can help Reese, it's Leslie. The legendary center enjoyed a Hall of Fame career in the WNBA with the Los Angeles Sparks, as she averaged 17.3 points per game on 47% shooting over the course of her 12-year career.
