WNBA makes historic Angel Reese announcement

The WNBA is coming up on the end of the regular season, and it's been a big one for Angel Reese. The Atlanta Dream star has done everything from getting her Barbie doll this season to becoming one of the most statistically dominant players in the league, averaging 16.6 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

It really seems like not a game goes by without the WNBA having some new good news about Reese, and this week is no exception. Ahead of the team's game against the New York Liberty on Wednesday, the league took to social media to share an announcement about Reese.

Angel Reese makes WNBA history with the Atlanta Dream

It's all about numbers for Reese, and she got some more during the team's win over the Liberty on Monday. After the game, the WNBA shared that it was a first for Reese.

"Angel marked her 32nd double-double of the season, extending her own single-season record," the WNBA announced after the Dream's victory. "This marked the 81st double-double of her career, tying Yolanda Griffith for the 12th most in WNBA history."

According to StatMuse, Reese is also one double-double away from tying Rebekkah Brunson on the all-time tally.

During her game against the Liberty, Reese clocked 18 points, 10 rebounds and two assists.

After the WNBA's break for the FIBA World Cup, Reese told reporters that she was "ready to get back" to the court with the Dream.

"Being back home, being back in Atlanta, being with my team," Reese said after her first game back. "I mean I enjoyed getting the gold medal with Team USA. I enjoyed my time there, but this is home."

She continued, "I've got to leave a taste in everybody about what the playoffs are going to look like, so it was only right for me to come out and set the tone."
