Napheesa Collier and the Minnesota Lynx hosted the Seattle Storm on Tuesday night, looking to improve to 5–0 in the early part of the 2025 WNBA season before heading to the West Coast for a two-game road trip.
Collier had been dominant through the first four games, averaging 29.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists. She looked to keep that momentum going against Seattle but didn’t have her sharpest night.
Still, she finished with 16 points on 7-of-18 shooting, 10 rebounds, five assists, five steals and two blocks. The Lynx ended up pulling out an 82-77 win after a tight fourth quarter.
But one of the biggest stories of the night was the first quarter from Collier, when she made WNBA history. Shortly after the quarter ended, the WNBA made an announcement.
"Phee is special ✨," the league wrote. "Napheesa Collier becomes the ONLY player in WNBA history to record 5+ STL and 2+ BLK in a single quarter! #WelcometotheW."

Collier was drafted No. 6 overall by the Lynx in the 2019 WNBA Draft after playing four seasons at UConn. The 6-foot-1 forward entered the 2025 season with the third-best odds (+300, ESPN BET ) to win WNBA MVP, behind Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (+200) and Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson (+225).
But after Collier’s strong start and Clark’s left quadriceps strain, which will sideline her for at least two weeks, Collier is now the betting favorite.
She currently sits at -200 (ESPN BET), with Clark at +300 and Wilson at +750.
