The WNBA season has featured several in-season moves that have completely swayed the league standings.

Ahead of the trade deadline, teams across the league are looking to make their final push in terms of roster changes before the postseason window closes.

On Thursday, the Connecticut Sun made a move for one of the most promising young players in the WNBA, Aaliyah Edwards.

The Sun traded for Edwards in exchange for Jacy Sheldon. They agreed upon the deal with the Washington Mystics ahead of their matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Mystics also received the rights to swap their first round pick in 2026 with that of the Sun.

While Sheldon is known for her skill set on the court, having played for the Dallas Wings and the Connecticut Sun in her young career, she's also known for her previous incident with Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.

During a matchup between the Sun and the Fever earlier this season, Sheldon and Clark clashed. The two shared some nudges on the court, and Clark eventually shoved Sheldon during the game.

Sheldon was later involved in an incident in which she poked Clark's eye, and the Fever guard reacted aggressively to the action from the Sun guard. Late in the game, Indiana's Sophie Cunningham committed a hard foul on Sheldon in retaliation for Sheldon's actions toward Clark.

Indiana wound up defeating Connecticut 88-71 in the matchup.

Jacy Sheldon began her career with the Dallas Wings in 2024. During her rookie season with the Wings, Sheldon posted 5.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Throughout her second season in the WNBA and first season with the Connecticut Sun, Sheldon has averaged 7.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

In 21 games with the Mystics, Edwards averaged 6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.4 assists.
