WNBA Reacts to Paige Bueckers' Clutch Shot in Wings-Mystics Game

Sunday was an action-packed day for the WNBA. One of the games on the docket was the Washington Mystics hosting the Dallas Wings at CareFirst Arena as Paige Bueckers and Co. looked to make it three straight wins for the first time this season.

The game turned out to be quite a nail-biter, with neither team willing to let up. As a matter of fact, the matchup required an extra period to determine a winner--and this would not have been the case had it not been for Bueckers' clutch time heroics for Dallas.

The frontrunner for this season's Rookie of the Year title knocked down a huge three-pointer with 11.0 seconds remaining to tie the game at 84-84. The Mystics were not able to respond on the other end, which meant that Bueckers' shot sent this game to overtime.

The WNBA took to social media to share its reactions to Bueckers' game-tying triple in regulation.

Unfortunately for Bueckers and the Wings, they fell short in the extra period. Bueckers actually had another opportunity to tie the game with another clutch trey in the dying seconds of OT, but her attempt from 27 feet out with 2.8 seconds remaining failed to find the bottom of the net.

The Wings suffered their first loss in three games, 91-88.

It was a heartbreaking defeat for Dallas, which ended up wasting another strong performance from their prized rookie. Bueckers finished the game with 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting, nine rebounds, seven assists, a steal, a block and one triple in 40 minutes of action.

The Wings get a day off before returning to action on Tuesday in a road game against the Atlanta Dream. Bueckers and Co. will enter that contest with a 3-12 record.
