The WNBA’s Sunday slate featured a matchup between the Seattle Storm and the Indiana Fever, with both teams entering at 16-12 and locked in a battle for playoff positioning. Entering Sunday’s contest, Indiana had won four straight, while Seattle was looking to bounce back after a draining double-overtime loss.

The Fever were once again without Caitlin Clark, who has now missed 16 games this season as she continues to recover from a right groin injury. However, in her absence, the spotlight quickly turned to Seattle rookie Dominique Malonga, who continued her breakout season by making WNBA history during the first quarter of the game.

Dominique Malonga Sets New WNBA Record

On Sunday, Malonga, 19, became the youngest player in league history to reach 100 career points and 100 rebounds, also doing so in just 27 games.

She recently hit the 100-point mark during a July 24 outing against the Chicago Sky, finishing the night with 14 points and 10 rebounds in just 17 minutes – the first double-double of her WNBA career.

Though her overall season averages, 5.0 points and 3.7 rebounds, remain modest, she’s making the most of her opportunities and showing flashes of the game-changing presence Seattle envisioned when selecting her with its first pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.

Dominique Malonga’s Career Journey

Born in Yaoundé, Cameroon and raised in France, Malonga built a name for herself long before joining the WNBA. She played professionally in Europe as a teenager and represented France at the 2024 Olympics — becoming the youngest player on that roster. Her play in the EuroCup and for French club ASVEL Féminin drew global attention.

The Seattle Storm selected her with the No. 2 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, and she quickly made headlines, showcasing her explosiveness with a dunk in her first team practice.
