WNBA star Brittney Griner enters free agency as one of the biggest names on the market.

The veteran center ended her eleven-year run with the Phoenix Mercury in 2025 and signed a one-year deal with the Atlanta Dream.

However, her production dipped with her new team, averaging career lows. The 35-year-old notched of 9.8 points on 51.8 percent shooting, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 39 games.

Griner is now an unrestricted free agent as the official negotiating period opened on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-9 center is a ten-time All-Star with championship experience. She remains a valuable piece for any contender next season.

The league recently addressed Griner’s free agency by honoring her remarkable career.

Griner remains a force with career averages of 16.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks across twelve seasons.

The former Baylor star has been a game-changer since entering the league. The WNBA posted a graphic on Instagram that highlights her full career timeline as a teaser for her next move.

“A career that’s defined an era Drafted by Phoenix in 2013, Brittney Griner spent more than a decade anchoring the franchise before continuing her career with Atlanta ahead of 2026 WNBA Free Agency,” the caption read.

Griner will be one of the most sought-after names in a loaded free agency class. The pool includes unrestricted free agents A’ja Wilson, Alyssa Thomas and Breanna Stewart.

The eight-time WNBA blocks leader has shown interest in returning to Atlanta. She even welcomed Angel Reese after the Dream acquired the two-time All-Star for first-round picks in 2027 and 2028.

A Griner-Reese pairing would create an intriguing frontcourt if the former gets a chance to stay with the Dream.
