As the Atlanta Dream head to the WNBA Finals, Angel Reese’s significant improvement in her game has not gone unnoticed.
Reese was a major reason the Dream made it to their first championship series since 2013. In 43 games during the regular season, she averaged a career-high 16.4 points, along with 12.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals.
In five games in the playoffs so far, she improved her scoring to 18.0 points, on top of 8.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.6 steals. She’s also averaging 2.2 blocks per contest.
What has stood out from Reese’s numbers, however, is her slightly improved 3-point shooting. She didn’t average more than one 3-pointer per game in her first two years in the WNBA, but in 2026, she attempted 1.3 triples per game.
Reese shot 19.3% from deep during the regular season, although her 3-point shooting percentage has improved to 38.5% in the playoffs. Even more amazing is the fact that the Dream have yet to lose a game — 13-0 including the playoffs — in which Reese made a triple.
That being said, the WNBA put the spotlight on Reese’s shooting ahead of the Finals and noted how she’s consistently working to improve her game.
“Constantly adding to her bag,” the WNBA wrote, along with a highlight reel of Reese’s triples during the playoffs. “Angel Reese has been letting it fly from behind the arc! Check out her best 3-PT celebrations ahead of Game 1 of the WNBA Finals as she and the @atlantadream prepare to face the Valkyries.”
It remains to be seen if the Dream will be able to extend their unbeaten streak in games in which Reese makes a 3-pointer during the WNBA Finals. After all, Atlanta failed to beat Golden State in any of their three regular-season meetings.
The Valkyries boast the best defense in the WNBA, so they will definitely make things difficult for Reese and the Dream offensively.
