The Washington Mystics played their first regular-season matchup against the Indiana Fever on Wednesday at the CFG Bank Arena. The Mystics secured their home court with an 83-77 win and did not disappoint the fans with how they played. Washington was led by Brittney Sykes, with 21 points and nine rebounds.
The Fever didn't have their best player, Caitlin Clark. On Saturday, Indiana had a 90-88 defeat against the New York Liberty. During that game, Clark suffered a quad injury and is expected to miss at least two weeks. That covers four games, including two contests against the Mystics, a game against the Connecticut and the Chicago Sky.
Following the Mystics' win, Tyler Byrum of Monumental Sports Network revealed that the home team had a sellout crowd.
"An announced sellout of 11,183 in Baltimore to see the Mystics and Fever," Byrum posted on X.

Plenty of fans came out to see Clark, a fan favorite across WNBA franchises. Before the game, the 2024 Rookie of the Year spent time with the fans. She interacted with her supporters and gave autographs.
According to reports, Clark was with the fans for about 20 minutes.

The Mystics moved to a larger venue in preparation for their game against the Fever. Although Clark did not play, there were still more fans than usual.
Washington's arena, the CareFirst Arena, has a capacity of 4,200 seats. Their decision to move to a larger location was to accommodate the multitude of fans who wanted to see Clark.
The next game between the Mystics and Fever is on June 3 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
