The Washington Mystics made several final tweaks to their roster on the eve of the 2025 WNBA regular season.
The Mystics announced in four separate posts that they waived four players Thursday. Washington parted ways with guard Zaay Green, forward Ashten Prechtel, forward Khadijiah Cave and guard Lauren Jensen.
Cave is the most experienced of the four players, but none of them have ever appeared in a WNBA regular season game. Green and Jensen are entering their rookie seasons.
Given that the Mystics drafted Green at No. 32 overall in the third round of the 2025 WNBA Draft, Green could be considered the most surprising release of the four players.
Green played for four different programs in six college seasons. During 2024-25, she averaged 15.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
As a freshman in 2018-19, Green made the SEC All-Freshman team with the Tennessee Volunteers.

Jensen spent one season with the Iowa Hawkeyes and then transferred to the Creighton Blue Jays, where she made the All-Big East team four times. In 2024-25, Jensen averaged 17.8 points per game.

Since going undrafted in 2017, Cave has bounced around the league to a few different WNBA organizations. The 30-year-old forward, though, has only appeared in WNBA preseason contests.
Cave played for the Baylor Bears in college from 2013-17.

The Connecticut Sun drafted Prechtel at No. 34 overall in the third round of the 2023 WNBA Draft. In college, she mostly came off the bench for the Stanford Cardinal, where she was part of a national championship team in 2021.
