The WNBA is nearing the end of the regular season, and teams are preparing for deep playoff runs, continuing to be active in the open market.
While several teams across the league have been formulating their rosters — like the Indiana Fever and Phoenix Mercury, who have made big in-season moves — others have been quiet.
The Dallas Wings, who have spent most of the season at the bottom of the standings, have been playing with quite similar lineups throughout the year despite the struggles.
On Sunday, the perspective on the Wings changed.
Dallas made a splash move, trading star guard DiJonai Carrington to the Minnesota Lynx for Diamond Miller, Karlie Samuelson and a 2027 second-round pick, per ESPNW.

The move for the Dallas Wings comes just a few days after losing to the Indiana Fever without Caitlin Clark. Dallas suffered an 88-78 loss to the Fever.
In the matchup against Indiana, Carrington posted four points, three rebounds and one assist in her final game as a Dallas Wing. Carrington, a second-round pick of the Connecticut Sun in the 2021 WNBA Draft, averaged 10.4 and 5.1 rebounds in 20 games for the Wings.
Paige Bueckers led the show for Dallas against the Fever, tallying 22 points, four rebounds and four assists.
While the Indiana Fever will look to improve and focus on the return of Caitlin Clark, who has missed quite some time due to injury, the Dallas Wings and Minnesota Lynx attempt to strengthen their rosters for the future ahead.
The Wings received two role players from the Lynx, who at 24-5 own the best record in the WNBA. In 25 games, Miller, a forward, has posted 4.1 points per game. She has hit 14 of her 26 3-point attempts (53.8%). Samuelson, a guard, averaged 3.3 points per game before suffering a season-ending foot injury during a game on June 29.
Dallas (8-21) sits at No. 11 in the league standings, at the bottom of the West.
