The Los Angeles Sparks parted ways with head coach Curt Miller on Sep. 24 after finishing at the bottom of the league standings with an 8-32 record. The decision came after Miller spent two seasons at the helm, going a combined 25-55.

On Tuesday night, the Sparks announced Miller's replacement: Lynne Roberts.

Before being named the Sparks' head coach, Roberts spent the last nine seasons leading the Utah Utes in college basketball. There, she made a name for herself as one of the top coaches in the Pac-12.

In fact, she was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year in 2023 and guided the Utes to three NCAA Tournament appearances during her tenure.

Roberts released a statement, thanking Sparks' ownership for the opportunity.

I am honored to be named the next head coach of the Los Angeles Sparks. I want to thank our ownership group for this incredible opportunity. From conversations with Eric Holoman and Reagan Pebley, it is evident that we share a like-minded commitment toward creating a winning culture and team. The Sparks have a talented roster with tremendous upside, and we will compete tirelessly for WNBA championships. I believe Los Angeles should be the premier market in the WNBA, and I’m eager to partner with our players and front office to make this happen.

On Thursday at 4 p.m. ET, Roberts will be introduced to the media at Crypto.com Arena.

After that, she'll get to work with L.A.'s young core, which includes Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson.
