The 2025 WNBA season has not been kind to the Connecticut Sun. The Sun is the only team that has not won at least five games in the season and has a 2-15 record. On Sunday, they suffered an abysmal 102-63 loss against the Minnesota Lynx, which also marked as their ninth straight loss.
The Sun only has two wins this year, and they're far from the team they were last year. Connecticut was a title-contending team last season as the second-seed in the Eastern Conference. They finished with a 28-12 record and lost in the semifinals of the playoffs against the Lynx.
But this season has been different, and their recent loss against Minnesota put them on the other side of WNBA history.
After the 39-point loss the Sun had, WNBA reporter Emily Adams revealed that their loss on Sunday was the third-largest in franchise history. Surprisingly, three of the biggest losses Connecticut suffered since joining the league happened this season.
"CT’s 39-point loss is the third largest in franchise history. The team has now suffered three of its four biggest losses ever in 2025," Adams posted on X. "Also marks the first time the Sun have given up 100+ points four times in a season. Happened 20 times over the previous 25 years combined."

Aneesah Morrow led the team with the most points, with 16 off the bench on 35.7% shooting from the field. Morrow and Olivia Nelson-Ododa were the only players to score in double digits for the Sun. Nelson-Ododa had 10 points on 4-for-8 shooting.
The next game for the Sun will be on Sunday, July 6 , against the Las Vegas Aces.
