The Indiana Fever had some bad news to announce ahead of their contest Wednesday against the Washington Mystics. The Fever are reeling from a two-point loss to the defending champion New York Liberty on Saturday night.
The loss dropped Indiana to 2-2. Caitlin Clark recorded a double-double in the loss, scoring 18 points on 6-of-18 shooting and adding five rebounds and 10 assists. She struggled from beyond the arc, going 2-for-11 on three-point attempts.
An injury might have been the cause for the poot shooting display from the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft.
Per the Fever, Clark suffered a quad injury and is expected to miss the next two weeks.
“Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has suffered a left quadriceps strain and will be out a minimum of two weeks, the team announced today,” via a statement by the Fever. “Further updates will be provided, as available, following re-evaluation.”
Clark’s quad injury will mark the first time the star point guard has missed multiple consecutive games due to an injury.
Fans on social media were saddened by Clark’s injury. Many believe the league’s ratings will implode with Clark in the starting lineup for the Fever.
“WNBA viewership going down in the next two weeks,” wrote a fan.
“A ratings nightmare for the WNBA. No CC and full woke. Good luck,” posted another.
“Ticket resales are about to go crazyyyy,” believes a poster.
“They are about to find out what happens to ratings when they lose the golden ticket,” argued a fan.
“WNBA will be out of commission a minimum of two weeks with a left quad strain, the NBA announced,” joked a fan.
“What’s the point of the WNBA without Clark? Might as well just suspend the games until she’s back,” wrote another.
