Post-Forbidden Door, AEW continues to surprise, and with one match announced so far for Collision, the Saturday night show has big expectations to live up to. Night three of the Philadelphia residency will likely include Collision’s usual mix of action and developments ahead of All Out.
There’s plenty of room for follow-up after a Dynamite that left more questions than answers. Besides a nod to Don Callis’s time as Cyrus the Virus and Darby Allin being Darby, the first night did not contain too many ECW references.
Whilst it was shown on AEW social media pages, let’s hope fans get to see the post-Dynamite surprise that Taz received. The Human Suplex Machine has been inducted into the 2300 Arena’s Hardcore Hall of Fame. This heart-warming moment deserves some airtime.
There is plenty to speculate on, so let’s first discuss what we know and then what we hope and want for another night in Philly. They’re packed pretty tight in here tonight!
Facing each other one-on-one after their earlier tag team clashes in the $200K tag team four-way and the AEW World Tag Team Eliminator Tournament, Tony Khan knows what he’s doing with this first and only graphic drop. Both Big Bill and Juice Robinson are fan favourites. Plus, each knows how to make the most of their time in AEW.
Although Robinson is less honeycomb monster in appearance now, the juice is still loose. Robinson may not be as comic, but his new persona is finding its feet. The same drive and determination shine through.
Elsewhere, Glasgow showed Big Bill that the UK still loves him. Smashing skulls and kicking butt, the size battle in this one is going to create an interesting dynamic with so many possibilities for humour, hard knocks, and fun moments in the spaces between moves.
On paper, Robinson and Big Bill could provide a loud and interactive match, with perhaps more to come from a tag team feud?
The AEW Women’s World Champion, “Timeless” Toni Storm, was absent from Dynamite. Expect to see and hear from her tonight. Collision has been the spotlight for some of Storm’s classic promos and moments. Being in the ECW Arena, some fans have speculated on whether we could see The Timeless One share the ring and perhaps a drink with The Sandman.
As for Nine Belts Mone, her dismissal of Alex Windsor nearly tapped her out during her championship celebration will lead somewhere. Compared to Dynamite, the women usually get at least two contests. Expect a follow-up for this and perhaps also further tensions building with the rest of the division. The first woman’s blood and guts in Philly would be a historic way and a fitting venue to finish this residency.
With HOOK back, we may get a squash match return that follows his booking patterns, or perhaps something new.
Given the presence of The Don Callis Family and their victory on Wednesday, expect The Invisible Hand to sow seeds. If we are lucky, we may get more from the AEW World Champion or his former friend and tag partner, Kenny Omega, after their Wednesday night reunion.
