Ahead of AEW Grand Slam on Saturday, AEW Dynamite will air live from the Golden State at the Toyota Arena with a night of exciting action, including an AEW Women’s Championship rematch. Plus, after Saturday’s AEW Collision, we’ll know which four teams will compete in a three-way match for the number one contendership to the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
Check back regularly for all the latest updates. In the meantime, let’s speculate on.
Since her debut last year, the Toxic Spider has been a menace. A domineering force in the women’s division, with the resilience and ability to hang on, as her arachnid moniker suggests. Skilful, deadly, and opportunistic, Thekla refuses to let Kris Statlander out of her web. Despite a defeat to the Cosmic Killer in a fair one-on-one contest, Thekla will not move on until Statlander becomes toxic.
The alliance between the Triangle of Madness, Megan Bayne, and Penelope Ford ruined the Babes of Wrath’s post-match celebration on AEW Collision. The group of powerful heels has gotten what they wanted: matches for gold. Thekla gets her second chance, but Statlander gets her choice stipulations.
Their first match arguably should have been the main event. On this Grand Slam warm-up, hopefully, AEW will learn from that previous mistake. An explosive contest indeed, but the stipulation for this follow-up will take it up at least a notch. Statlander is no stranger to violence. Her classic Chicago Street Fight with Willow Nightingale at All Out 2024 was a violent splendour. We’ve seen both women use plunder during the first women’s Blood and Guts match.
However, whatever stipulation Statlander picks, the issue will be interference and numbers. Is Big Stat Daddy about to find herself outgunned and outwitted? Or does the Galaxy’s Greatest Alien have a plan?
The rematch is set! @callmekrisstat vs. @toxic_thekla for the #AEW Women’s World Title goes down next week on Dynamite… but the stipulation remains a mystery!

At the time of writing, we are aware of only one potential team: either The Young Bucks or GOA. Clashing previously during the last number one contender’s match, with neither team taking the fall, the potential dynamic each team brings will add distinct flavour and possibilities to this contest.
With Matt and Nick Jackson bringing back the superkick party to California, expect a heavy dose of PWG-inspired madness. If it’s GOA, opponents are going to fly involuntarily, and bodies are going to be wrecked like a car crash on a California highway.
While we do not know the other teams, there’s a wealth of possibilities. Do the AEW World Trios champions, JetSpeed, get added to the mix? Potentially to set up their first trio’s defence? There’s still outstanding beef with FTR and GOA.
What about the Bang Bang Gang? Or newcomers Alex Price and Jordan Oliver, getting an opportunity to put themselves on the map? Does the Don Callis Family have enough members to send another tag team combo into the fray? Or, depending on how they hold up in Saturday’s Parking Lot Brawl, the winning teams of that brutal contest?
The tag team division in 2026 has depth and options that the ranks lacked in 2025. Check back on Sunday for the full set of updates.
Despite help from the @YoungBucks to keep GOA at bay, @KingRicochet is STILL the AEW National Champion!
