AEW Dynamite Results from AEW Dynamite Tonight (12/31/25)

MJF celebrated his AEW Men’s World Championship Victory

Not-so-humbly, MJF touted the beginning of his second reign. He then unveiled the “Triple-B” Championship in all of its dull brown glory. Kenny Omega interrupted his boasts, asking “What if?” if they met in the ring. He elaborated that it would not be as The Cleaner or the Best Bout Machine, but the Belt Collector. MJF suggested Omega was too afraid to meet him face-to-face, but before he could go on any further, Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland interrupted from the crowd. The champ encouraged them to earn their way back to him and left. Page and Strickland stormed to the ring, laying out the legion of security until the ring was a place of wreckage and carnage once the dust settled.

Page declared he’d strangle MJF with the belt. Strickland followed up by stating, “May the worst men win.” Samoa Joe and the Opps interjected on the tron. Joe claimed that he was robbed at Worlds End. He stated that their punishment for harming Hook is that he’d send the Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil their way with “no limiters.” Page and Strickland challenged the Opps to a Lights Out match.

A graphic for the Lights Out match was displayed for the January 7 episode of Dynamite, later on in the New Year’s Smash episode: Page and Strickland versus Powerhouse Hobbs and Hook.

Conglomeration on their Mixed Nuts Match win

Mark Briscoe proudly boasted his team’s victory at Worlds End. Toni Storm cozied up to Orange Cassidy, much to the jealous chagrin of Mina Shirakawa who warned Cassidy to keep his hands to himself and out of his pockets. Roderick Strong yelled and said he had nothing to say.

Death Riders (Marina Shafir, Claudio Castagnoli, & Daniel Garcia) defeated  Toni Storm, Orange Cassidy, & Roderick Strong

Storm handled Shafir quickly, but Castagnoli shoved her out of the ring. Strong pummeled the giant and followed with a huge dropkick. The Death Riders ran a train of lariats on Cassidy. Strong fended off Castagnoli and Shafir, but Castagnoli recovered and protected her with the help of Garcia. Storm and Cassidy called back to their dance spot at Worlds End, knocking out all three of the Death Riders. Garcia booted Storm in her face when she tried the Giant Swing on Castagnoli. Shafir’s Mother’s Milk on Cassidy was interrupted by Strong’s Backbreaker. Castagnoli tossed him away, but suffered a Stundog Millionaire from Cassidy. Storm assisted with a Hip Attack, giving Cassidy a chance for a DDT. Before Cassidy could finish Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta pulled the denim-clad wrestler to distract. Castagnoli finished Cassidy off with a European Uppercut.

(An equal balance of comedy and seriousness. Storm and Cassidy were charming, but the attacks the Conglomeration was suffering were wearing on Strong.)

Bandido defeated The Beast Mortos

After repeated stalemates, Bandido baited Mortos with his black cape as though he were a matador. Mortos eventually caught the cape and slapped Bandido on the chest. Despite Bandido’s speed, Mortos caught him every step of the way. Bandido taunted Mortos following another standstill, resulting in a bitten finger from the Beast. A leap from the top rope returned the momentum in Bandido’s favor. Mortos clutched a comeback as he kept Bandido grounded. However, Bandido recuperated in time to land a Splash.

A Backbreaker and Discus Lariat returned the upper hand to Mortos. Once Mortos failed a backflip from the top rope, Bandido flung him about, winning with a 21-plex.

Post-match: Backstage, Bandido challenged MJF for the AEW World Championship at AEW Maximum Carnage on January 14.

(It’s so nice seeing Mortos back. His chemistry with luchadores the size of Bandido always satisfies. Bandido was in excellent form as usual.)

Brody King defeated Lee Johnson

Johnson sought an early advantage during King’s entrance but found himself hurled into the ring. Using his agility, Johnson whittled at King. The behemoth recovered and bore down on the smaller opponent with a Cannonball. He slammed Johnson down to make quick work of him with a pinfall.

(Johnson, in a perfect world, would be in the upper-mid card by now. Still, an entertaining effort that maximized the minutes of this quick squash.)

Darby Allin wanted to set himself free

In a vulnerable, snow-filled vignette, Allin seemed empty even after his win over Gabe Kidd at Worlds End. He challenged Pac to “finish what I started.”

Jon Moxley (c) defeated Josh Alexander for the AEW Continental Championship

Alexander immediately went to work on Moxley, slapping him around the ring. Rubbing salt in the wound, he pried the champ’s mouth open. The bullying continued, leading to some extreme knee targeting. Moxley swung a comeback, raining fists on Alexander, punctuated by an elbow that bloodied the Canadian’s face. Enraged, Alexander showed no mercy to Moxley’s knee, kicking at it and twisting it.

Moxley pulled Alexander in for a sleeper. Alexander countered with an ankle lock, ended by a rope break. Alexander teased a piledriver on the apron. The pair traded forearms and kicks on the ledge. Believing he had Moxley close to finished, Alexander threw a Moonsault, which missed, and drove the air out of him. Whipping Moxley into the ropes, Alexander threw a lariat, which Moxley transitioned into a Cutter. Exchanging German Suplexes, both men rallied themselves through exhaustion for one more collision. Moxley sent him down with a lariat and an elbow suicida, which further excruciated his knee.

Evoking Bret Hart’s figure-four leglock on the ring post, Alexander tormented Moxley’s tender knee. Moxley caught Alexander in a rear-naked choke, suffocating the life out of Alexander despite one weak last fight. Alexander meekly tapped as he faded to unconsciousness.

Post-match: MVP and Shelton Benjamin greeted Moxley at the entrance. Moxley nodded and departed through the crowd.

(Exactly the type of match that Josh Alexander needed to look like a killer. Moxley’s storytelling through the hurt knee added such depth for an underdog battle.)

Triangle of Madness Vowed to Make Things “Toxic”

Thekla praised the work that Julia Hart and Skye Blue put into the Worlds End Zero Hour against Maya World and Hyan. The trio then shifted their focus on Kris Statlander following her victory over Jamie Hayter at the same event.

Ricochet (c) defeated Jack Perry for the AEW National Championship

Ricochet’s agility kept Perry almost under his thumb. Luchasuarus put himself between Ricochet’s lackeys (Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun) and Perry. Ricochet pulled Perry’s hair to flatten him. When Perry tried the same (out of humor), he opted for the champ’s beard. Ricochet flung himself at Perry into the barricade outside. Perry retaliated with a full-speed elbow strike. Ricochet countered a DDT with a Brainbuster.

A Comebacker Lariat returned the match to Perry’s favor. Catching Perry on the outside, Ricochet paid the price with a Bulldog onto the floor. Kaun’s attempt to sweep Perry’s leg was met with a kick into a nearby commentary desk. Perry nearly ended Ricochet with a Diving-DDT. Ricochet’s Spirit Gun blasted Perry to the mat, securing a pinfall to retain his title.

Post-match: Liona returned to the ring with a clobbered Luchasaurus. Perry crawled to help, but was blindsided by Ricochet. Trapping the dinosaur’s arm under a barricade, Kaun devastated it with multiple chair shots. Security came to lead the trio away, but The Demand battered them as well.

(Perry’s become sort of a Darby Allin without the makeup or antics. He’s just in it for the thrill of it while putting on thrilling matches. Arguably better.)

The Death Riders addressed their enemies

Jon Moxley let Shelton Benjamin know he was ready for him. The rest of the Death Riders threatened the likes of Darby Allin and the Conglomeration.

Babes of Wrath segment

Harley Cameron hyped up Willow Nightingale ahead of her match with Mercedes Mone.

BroDido confronted MJF

MJF smugly did another victory lap regarding his new title reign. He stated he wasn’t afraid of challengers like Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page, Swerve Strickland, or Samoa Joe. Bandido and Brody King of BroDido informed him they were coming for him.

Willow Nightingale defeated Mercedes Mone (c) for the TBS Championship

Nightingale went for Mone’s midsection. Shortly thereafter, Mone repeatedly clobbered her challenger against the barricade. Nightingale broke a Mone Maker into a backslide and a lariat. Blocking a knee strike, Nightingale chopped her and sent her flying across the ring with a dropkick. A Cannonball provided extra damage to the champ. Mone regained momentum, driving her knees into Nightingale’s head, sending her into the steel steps. Nightingale obliterated Mone with a Pounce. She added to it with a Death Valley Driver. Had it not been for a rope break, Nightingale would have won with a powerbomb.

Calling to her hero, Eddie Guerrero, Mone tried a Frog Splash, but Nightingale’s knees broke her fall. Outside, Mone turned Nightingale inside out with Guerrero’s Three Amigos. Clearing the commentary desk, Nightingale sought to send Mone through it; the champ reversed it with a vertical suplex to the unbreakable desk. Nightingale beat a 10-count, narrowly escaping defeat. Desperately escaping Mone’s Statement Maker, Nightingale almost succumbed to an Underhook. Turning a Jacknife Pin, Nightingale defeated Mone with a powerbomb to become the new TBS Champion.

Post-match: Orange Cassidy, Harley Cameron, JetSpeed, and AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander embraced Nightingale.

(Wow. Freaking wow. An absolute epic. Absolutely befitting a television main event. Mone’s descent into mass-title loss continues.)

Final Thoughts

Excellent show from top to bottom. Jon Moxley’s underdog performance made Josh Alexander look great even in defeat. Meanwhile, a litany of wrestlers seems viable to challenge and maybe even dethrone the newly crowned MJF. But that main event was something special that was a long time coming. That was something special that deserved its spot away from a pay-per-view to really punctuate its importance.
