Welcome to our live recap of tonight’s AEW Dynamite results.
AEW Dynamite airs live from the famous 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA, tonight. The fallout of AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door comes within the hallowed and sacred halls of ECW’s old stomping grounds. And what an extreme night it is! The Death Riders’ Claudio Castagnoli takes on Darby Allin in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. Elsewhere on the card, fellow Death Rider Jon Moxley locks horns with Daniel Garcia, someone he long wished to face. Kris Statlander as of late, but tonight she combines her wrath with Harley Cameron’s as they face Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford! Also, new AEW World Tag Team Champions BroDido ally with JetSpeed to face the Don Callis Family!
With Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay out due to severe nagging injuries, who will step in their place? Darby Allin and Daniel Garcia are positioned to take on the Death Riders. Hangman Adam Page sits atop the card as the babyface champion. Perhaps that next protagonist steps up in this episode? Either way, I expect Moxley’s bout with Garcia to shape the Red Death’s meandering future. With Allin in the forefront, however, I see them continuing their years-long war once Castagnoli is dealt with properly. In keeping with the Death Riders, what if Statlander turns, joining them at the expense of Cameron? With the 8-man tag, I imagine that the seeds planted by Konosuke Takeshita’s disdain for inclusions such as Kazuchika Okada and Wardlow begin to grow.
Follow along with live results from tonight’s card with updated play-by-play and takes from the matches!
AEW Dynamite airs live tonight from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
AEW Dynamite airs tonight at 8 PM EST on TBS Network and Max.
(Starting with nostalgic aesthetics of the chain-link fence walls, an ’80s style tag team, and an Attitude Era tag team was a nice touch to set the mood for the night.)
Dax Harwood struggled to get any word in as Philadelphia rained boos and profanities on him, a true and classic ECW welcome. Harwood complained that the “illegal man” pinned him at Forbidden Door. Calling out Referee Paul Turner, Harwood demanded he admit his wrongdoing, reverse his decision, and declare FTR as the new AEW World Tag Team Champions. Hathaway accused Turner of being a crooked official, to which he retaliated with a shove.
Adam Copeland barged in, checking behind him as though expecting Christian Cage. Cage was already in the ring, hitting Hathaway with a Killswitch. Copeland and Cage brawled with FTR across the ringside. Cash Wheeler was incapacitated momentarily, but rejoined Harwood as the Attitude Era legends combined forces on him. Copeland attempted to prevent Cage from making another dead father remark, but Philadelphia changed his mind.
Copeland dubbed his alliance with Cage as “C&C” and challenged FTR to a match at All Out: Toronto.
Allin declared he’d keep coming for the Death Riders for taking so many people out of action since their betrayal of Bryan Danielson in 2024.
(This brought out the best of both worlds with each man. Moxley’s brutality and brawling capacity mixed well with the technical showcase of Garcia.)
Garcia quickly surpassed Moxley in terms of technical proficiency and speed. Moxley reversed Garcia’s momentum by catching a rear-naked choke, later following with a lariat as his opponent ran the ropes. The bitter Garcia hurled Moxley into the barricade and threw multiple dropkicks at him. Noticeably, he kept rubbing his left eye. Both Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir kept closing in to distract him, leading Moxley to kick him from the apron. Daddy Magic came to Garcia’s aid. Garcia clutched Moxley’s leg for an Ankle Lock.
Already bearing the nasty marks of Sunday’s Lights Out Steel Cage Match, Moxley scratched Garcia’s back on the top turnbuckle. Garcia turned the tables with a superplex from the top. The targeting of Moxley’s knee paid dividends for Garcia as the former World Champion struggled on his feet. Moxley regained control with a Cutter. Aiming for a Paradigm Shift, Moxley rather crawled desperately to escape a single-leg Boston Crab. Sensing that the fresher talent was getting the better of him, Moxley planted Garcia with a DDT onto a set of steel steps. Garcia landed a crushing Piledriver to no avail. Hoping to trap Moxley’s legs in another Boston Crab, Moxley sneaked out an inside cradle to finish the match.
Post-match, Garcia bitterly met Daddy Magic by the ring. Moxley gave Yuta a microphone, to which he informed Darby Allin that Moxley wouldn’t accept his challenge. Outside, Moxley and Garcia argued, with the latter so enraged he threw chairs and stomped his way backstage.
Yuta whined that nobody, especially not the Phillie crowd, appreciated him. Boasting of the many injuries the Death Riders inflicted on the men’s division, he was interrupted with the lights went out. Hook emerged as his new entrance theme played, continuing well into his battering of Yuta. The song’s name was “So Tell The Girls I Am Back In Town” by Jay Jay Johanson.
Post-match at Forbidden Door, MJF did a pre-recorded speech about how he brought rage out of Hangman Page before setting his sights on finally taking down Mark Briscoe.
(Solid match, with the right amount of beef for Stat and Bayne to leave fans salivating. While I like the tease of Nightingale reuniting with Statlander, I hope AEW doesn’t drag it out too long or bring it up too much if they want to let it simmer.
Ford’s speed kept Statlander at bay. Cameron offered herself up as a weapon for Statlander to use on Ford. Bayne and Statlander teased a lock-up with a staredown, but Cameron tagged in instead. Bayne bullied the wrathful Aussie, resulting in her midsection being stomped into the corner. Ford re-entered the bout, swinging Cameron about, only to eat a boot to the face. She shed crocodile tears to distract the ref, allowing Bayne to lariat Cameron.
Statlander made a hot tag, overwhelming Bayne and evading Ford. She swung Ford with a suplex and ate a flying lariat by Bayne for her troubles. Bayne and Ford attempted a double-Moonsault on their fallen opponents but missed. Cameron and Statlander combined their efforts on Bayne, to which Ford threw herself so she could break it up. Bayne landed a flying dropkick to Cameron, falling to a stiff Discus Lariat courtesy of Statlander. Cameron reversed a slam by Bayne on the outside with a DDT. Statlander slammed Ford in a counter to a poisonrana.
Statlander changed Ford’s pin attempt into an armbar + headscissors combination to tap her out.
Post-match, Willow Nightingale rushed to the ring to aid Cameron, but met Statlander instead. They awkwardly stood around until Cameron slid back into the ring.
Philadelphia warmly received Mone and her many championships. Mone declared she hoped to surpass Ultimo Dragon’s iconic belt collection. Renee Paquette asked her about Alex Windsor’s possible path back to the title picture, to which Mone scoffed.
In his garage, Briscoe greeted Philadelphia with his young newborn baby. He then abandoned all the goofy, fun times we know of Mark Briscoe and emulated Jay Briscoe once more to address MJF and Kyle Fletcher in that order. He issued a challenge to settle their 2-2 singles record for the TNT Championship.
Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Josh Alexander, Kazuchika Okada, & Hechicero) defeated BroDido (Brody King & Bandido) & JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & “Speedball” Mike Bailey)
(Overstimulation at its finest, and I mean that as a sincere compliment. Everyone shone, with the big story throughout being Okada and Takeshita’s tension rising.)
Callis interrupted the ring announcer as Wardlow accompanied him. For some reason, he incorporated the Japanese and Spanish languages (poorly) to introduce both Josh Alexander, Hechicero, Konosuke Takeshita, and Kazuchika Okada.
Hechicero and Bandido provided a high-speed preview of ROH’s Death Before Dishonor. The former got the better of the tag team champion. King made the save, laying out both Alexander and Takeshita. JetSpeed drove Alexander down with kicks. Alexander sought to make a tag, to which Takeshita and Okada simultaneously did so. The Family members stared at each other before reluctantly uniting against Bailey. King blasted himself as a senton to both men on the outside. Bandido landed a King-assisted Moonsault as JetSpeed did the same.
Hechicero wore his weight down on Knight in the corner. Both teams traded finishers, punctuated by King and Hechicero colliding mid-air. Bailey endured an onslaught of Don Callis Family tackles, but Takeshita dropped him with a lariat, pulling him away from Okada. Takeshita flew to the outside, laying out most of his opponents and an accidental Hechicero. Okada saved Alexander from Knight. Bailey leapt in a Moonsault Knee-drop for naught, as Alexander rolled away and pulled him into an inside cradle for the win.
(The small Phillie crowd made this whole segment feel like the O2 Arena with Omega and Page’s hug.)
Page thanked Will Ospreay for everything he’s done for AEW in the short time he’s been signed. Philadelphia shared the same sentiment. He added that everyone, AEW and fans alike, will miss him. Page even offered an eventual challenge for his AEW Men’s World Championship. Shifting gears, he addressed MJF’s failure to defeat him at Forbidden Door. Acknowledging the Casino Gauntlet contract MJF still holds, Page informed him that the result would still be the same.
Don Callis emerged for some reason and illustrated that he wants his championship back in the Don Callis Family. The members of his stable all approached the ring. Page told Callis that he knew how the next few minutes would go and interrupted himself by diving onto the Don Callis Family. JetSpeed came to his assistance. Callis handed Rocky Romero a baton, laying out everyone. Kenny Omega walked out, shirtless and sweaty somehow, thwarting most of the Don Callis Family. Lance Archer hoped to chokeslam him, but crumpled thanks to Omega holding the baton.
Page and Omega united with a Buckshot + V-Trigger combo to topple the giant. Omega and Page embraced.
Shirakawa, ahead of her Death Before Dishonor match against Athena, received Storm’s full support as she sought vengeance for her hand injury from All In: Texas.
The Opps (Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, & Katsuyori Shibata) (c) defeated Ricochet & the GOA (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) for the AEW World Trios Championship
(Kaun and Liona are coming into their own thanks to this Ricochet stable. The Opps, as always, are the perfect trio champs to have right now.)
Ricochet unwisely chose to strike Hobbs and fell as recompense. Kaun tagged in after a Spinebuster obliterated Ricochet. Hobbs recovered from Kaun’s assault and tagged Shibata in. Walking off Kaun’s chops like it was nothing, Shibata traded them with increasing intensity. Noticing Shibata’s control of the match, Ricochet kicked him, allowing Kaun to render The Wrestler unconscious on the outside.
Shibata took Kaun down with a leg sweep. Hobbs waylaid Liona with stiff forearms in the corner. Joe unleashed a Powerslam + Senton combo on Ricochet. Shibata clung to Liona’s back. Ricochet readied himself for a Shooting Star Press on Joe, but MVP struck him with his cane and slunk off to the backstage area. Joe tapped Ricochet out with a Coquina Clutch for the win.
Post-match, GOA brawled with Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin en route to the backstage area. Ricochet staggered on his knees, alone and bald.
(If this is what we can expect from AEW’s ongoing temporary stay at the 2300 Arena, if matches like this will become the norm, then sign me up. Pure ECW vibes while being deeply AEW. That’s a mighty way to follow up on the Lights Out Steel Cage Match from Forbidden Door.)
Castagnoli’s march to the ring was interrupted by Allin ambushing him. Castagnoli stuck him in a shopping cart and wheeled it into chairs. He then slammed Allin through a flat screen television. Castagnoli dragged Allin towards the arena, swinging him into the entrance barricade. Allin gained a moment of respite (by his standards) as he tossed himself into the Death Rider. Climbing a pole, Allin descended with a Coffin Drop to Castagnoli on the floor.
Castagoli flattened Allin on the mat, instructing Taz, Excalibur, and Ian Riccaboni to abscond the commentary table. The Philadelphia crowd’s loud cacophony fell once Castagnoli launched Allin from the ring to the commentary desk. Castagnoli executed perfect multitasking capabilities as he set up tables on opposite sides of the ring, and he threw Allin into the ring. He blasted Allin with a chair. Trapping Castagnoli in a Guillotine Choke, Allin baited his towering opponent into one of the tables.
Battering Castagnoli with repetitive chairshots, he tasted his own medicine with a superplex that landed him on the unforgiving obsidian steel. Twice did Castagnoli toss Allin into the last surviving table, and it bore no fruit. Gouging Castagnoli’s eyes, Allin followed up with an unsuccessful Code Red. Two Coffin Drops from Allin put Castagnoli down for the 3-count.
Post-match, Gabe Kidd, Jon Moxley, and Marina Shafir assaulted Allin. Allin had one flash of energy enough to attack Moxley and Kidd, and it was enough to grant him an escape.
Top to bottom, this 2300 Arena debut left a lasting impression. If someone were left unimpressed by Forbidden Door, and if they didn’t let the setup of the 2300 Arena deter them, they’ll feel more than satisfied. Everything landed in action-packed matches. The catharsis of 2025 reuniting the former Edge and Christian, alongside Hangman Page and Kenny Omega, makes my heart fuzzy as a wrestling fan. But that devastatingly awesome Falls Count Anywhere Match was so insane. With separate rumors regarding MVP and Gabe Kidd lately, I think AEW is playing it smart by not addressing it right now, if ever.
I’m still buzzing. Great show. Watch it.
