Nic Nemeth (Dolph Ziggler) has been in the headlines since his WWE departure with his moves in the pro wrestling industry.

WWE tenure

Nemeth showed up in NJPW last month at the Wrestle Kingdom event, where he has since worked various matches. He is also working in TNA Wrestling after making his promotional debut at the Hard to Kill pay-per-view event.

Ziggler was released by WWE alongside several other stars due to budget cuts following the sale to Endeavor last September. He had been with WWE since 2004, where, for years, he had been mostly used as an upper-mid card talent, where he held the Intercontinental and United States Titles several times.

Wanting out

While speaking with Denise Salcedo, Nemeth noted that he asked for his WWE release several times with the idea he would return, but WWE continued to deny it because they needed him.

"It would be different if I was hobbling around or if I didn't get reactions or wasn't good at my job. I would be happy to take a backseat and help people out. But I'm sitting around six days a week, not working, basically in the prime of my career. So let's get going. And so I said, 'How about this? How about I leave for six months? How about I leave for a year?' How about I get the hell out of here?' But even a couple of years ago, when they said yes, the next Sunday, I'd get a phone call saying, 'Hey, we need you.' It's great."

Nemeth recalled emailing WWE officials, including Vince McMahon, a heartfelt message with positives and negatives about how he felt. McMahon was the only person to respond and wanted to talk. Two weeks after the email exchange happened, Nemeth got his release.
