Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images

This week’s episode of WWE NXT provides the Stand & Deliver fallout. The show emanates from the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the WWE NXT preview.

While most of the card has yet to be determined, one major title match is already set. The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship has found its way back into The Judgement Day via Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. They will be defending their new titles on this week’s NXT.

Here is all you need to know ahead of the April 22 NXT.

WWE NXT Full Card:

  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez (c) vs. Gigi Dolin & Tatum Paxley

Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez Come To NXT

Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez’s new-found momentum as the newly minted Women’s Tag Team Champions will be tested soon. After losing the titles at WrestleMania 41 Sunday, they managed to win the gold back on the April 21 Raw. The pair will defend the gold against NXT’s Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley. This will be an intriguing match, as Dolin and Paxley showed that they are worthy challengers, and they could be the ones to finally bring the titles back to NXT. Morgan and Rodriguez have more experience individually and together though, and that will be difficult to topple.

NXT Stand & Deliver Fallout

NXT Stand & Deliver was a loaded show, with five title matches. Whilst three champions retained, two new titleholders were also crowned. Of course, this show was a part of WWE WrestleMania 41 weekend, and many felt that it set the pace for the weekend in outstanding fashion.

What happens now to The D’Angelo Family? Who will step up to new NXT Women’s North American Champion, Sol Ruca? How will the men’s tag team division move forward, with Hank & Tank at the helm?

Colts' QB decision makes no sense, sets stage for wasted season

The Indianapolis Colts must have zero belief that Anthony Richardson is capable of being a starting quarterback in the NFL. That is the only logical conclusion one can draw from their decision to go with Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback for the 2025 season, while also giving him a lengthy leash to play through. It's not only nonsensical, but it sets the stage for what could be a completely wasted season of football where they do not get anything from it. Whether the Colts decided to go with Jones or Richardson, their ceiling was unlikely to change. They're not a Super Bowl-contending team, and they may not even be a playoff team. The Colts have a very flawed roster that is probably more than just one quarterback away. But that's part of the reason why it would have at least made sense to give Richardson one more run at it. While the early part of his career has been filled with injuries and inconsistency, he is still a player they used a No. 4 overall pick on. He is also a player who is still full of talent, a big arm and — in theory — a lot of potential. He is in a lot of ways still a mystery and something of an unknown as an NFL player. He's played only 15 games, thrown just 348 passes and is still 23 years old. There is still something there that a team can dream on. It would make sense to try to see if he can figure it out given that unknown potential and upside. Jones, on the other hand, is the complete opposite in every way. He is a mostly known commodity in the NFL. He has appeared in 70 regular-season games and thrown 2,241 passes, and he is going to be 28 years old when the season begins. There are no secrets here. Everybody knows what he is: veteran mediocrity. Sure, there is a chance he could follow the path of Geno Smith and finally put things together and become an above-average starter after washing out with the New York Giants. But those types of success stories are the exception and not the rule. After six years and nearly 2,500 passes in the NFL you start to get a sense for what a quarterback is and what they can do. Jones has shown everybody who and what he is as an NFL starting quarterback: not good enough. What are the Colts hoping to accomplish here? Maybe Jones is a marginal upgrade over Richardson right now. But is he enough of an upgrade to take them from a mid-level, average team to a playoff team or a contender? Not likely. Not in a stacked AFC. Due to Richardson's upside, if he can reach it, he might actually have the ability to do that. That alone should have been the incentive to give him one more run at it. If he washes out, then you might know for sure that he is not your answer and that you need to seriously look at the position again in 2026. The season might not go well, but it at least wouldn't be a waste. Right now, the Colts just seem to be hoping that Jones can get them to another eight- or nine-win season that keeps them squarely in the middle of the NFL standings. Nobody wants to see that. Nobody wants to watch that. They should have at least given Richardson one more swing at it. Now they have pretty much already written him off as a potential option without ever really knowing for sure if he could do the job or reach his potential.

Fever receive devastating injury news on Sophie Cunningham

Injuries continue to be the pitfall for the Indiana Fever this season. Per ESPN, Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has been ruled out for the rest of the season following a knee injury she suffered in Indiana's 99-93 win over the Connecticut Sun on Sunday. The injury comes with nine games left in the regular season for the Fever. At 19-16, Indiana has the third-best record in the Eastern Conference and is set to make a playoff push this summer. The Fever have been without second-year star Caitlin Clark since July 15, as the guard has been dealing with a groin injury. The team hopes she can return in the regular season, but Indiana could be significantly shorthanded on offense until her return. Cunningham has averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 30 games played this season. She has been crucial as a rotational player, averaging 25.2 minutes for the Fever. The 29-year-old became an early darling of the WNBA this season for standing up for Clark both on and off the court. Cunningham recently signed a podcast deal with Colin Cowherd. The good news for Cunningham is that she is expected to make a full recovery. However, the injury will crush what could have been a special season for the Fever if and when Clark returns.

Packers may find themselves in position to repeat a quarterback move that once paid off after the latest NFL development

A year ago, the Green Bay Packers found themselves in a complicated situation at backup quarterback. Former fifth-round pick Sean Clifford and seventh-round rookie Michael Pratt had been struggling in training camp and preseason, and the team didn't have great options in the free agent market. So general manager Brian Gutekunst pulled off a trade, acquiring Malik Willis from the Tennessee Titans for a seventh-round pick. In hindsight, it was the perfect move. Willis had to start in Weeks 2 and 3, leading the Packers to wins over the Indianapolis Colts and, guess what, the Titans. But don't get it wrong, that move was a huge bet on what the coaching staff could do to develop Willis. A good athlete, the quarterback had massively struggled in Tennessee—that's why he lost the starting job to Will Levis and the backup job to Mason Rudolph, and ultimately why he was available for that type of trade. Now, or next offseason at the latest, the Packers have a shot at repeating the process to acquire a distressed asset to develop at quarterback. It's Anthony Richardson, who lost the QB battle on the Colts to Daniel Jones. Why a trade for Anthony Richardson makes sense for the Packers Philosophically, Gutekunst loves this type of quarterback—raw, athletic, strong-armed. The GM's first QB move on the Packers was trading for DeShone Kizer. He closely scouted Drew Lock in 2019 before taking Jordan Love in 2020. Richardson is obviously raw and needs development, but his arm strength and physical capabilities are undeniable. If the Packers can get him for a Day 3 pick, that should absolutely be on the table, especially because Malik Willis is entering the final year of his deal. Green Bay will need a long-term backup to Love, and Richardson is under contract through 2026 for a combined $9.225 million—plus a fifth-year option for 2027 that would likely not be exercised. According to the Relative Athletic Score in the pre-draft process, Richardson is the best athlete ever at the quarterback position coming out of college. Playing time is important, but Matt LaFleur showed with Jordan Love that it's possible to develop a backup quarterback to a certain degree with practice and preseason reps, if the situation is right. Would the Colts pull the trigger? A follow-up question is how much the Colts would be willing to actually trade Richardson. The Titans had just spent a second-round pick on Levis, which prompted them to move on from Willis. Even though the Colts gave Daniel Jones a $14 million deal, it's a one-year contract, and they haven't made big investments at the position after taking Richardson with the fourth overall pick. Publicly, the Colts keep saying that Richardson is part of the team's long-term plans. However, Richardson himself might want out. His agent, Deiric Jackson, didn't officially request a trade, but told ESPN that they will assess the situation. "We have a lot to discuss," Jackson said. "Trust is a big factor and that is, at best, questionable right now. Anthony came back and made the improvements in the areas he needed to improve. And by all accounts, he had a great camp." On the Packers, Anthony Richardson wouldn't have playing time right away—and ideally, never. But he would have a real chance to develop in a positive environment, become a useful backup and maybe situational quarterback, and elevate his value for a possible second contract with a shot at fighting for another starting job elsewhere.

Cardinals Writer Makes Controversial JJ Wetherholt Assessment

The St. Louis Cardinals have seemingly waved the white flag on the season and the fan base is already preparing to riot for the call up and big league debut of top prospect JJ Wetherholt. Wetherholt is slashing .310/.403/.670 with nine home runs, a triple, and seven doubles in less than 30 games at the Triple-A level. Thomas Gauvain of Redbird Rants recently suggested that Wetherholt wasn't in the big leagues because he is blocked from receiving consistent playing time. Why hasn't JJ Wetherholt been called up yet? "Even with third baseman Nolan Arenado and second baseman Brendan Donovan on the IL, St. Louis Cardinals manager Oli Marmol is trying to squeeze in playing time for Masyn Winn, Nolan Gorman, and Thomas Saggese," Gauvain wrote. "Alec Burleson and Ivan Herrera are rotating between corner outfield duties and designated hitter appearances. There's not much time or space for Wetherholt on the major-league roster as things currently stand. "You don't promote a prospect of Wetherholt's caliber unless you intend on playing him every day. There's an argument that you make the roster work around JJ Wetherholt rather than the other way around, but the focus throughout the 2025 season in the majors has been to give young players full runway to prove their value or lack thereof. Bumping down Thomas Saggese, who is still only 23 and is 11 for his last 41, and Nolan Gorman, who has a .936 OPS over his last 11 games, for Wetherholt is a difficult argument to make." Every player listed who is supposedly blocking Wetherholt from receiving consistent playing time is under contract for next season, too. Would that mean the Cardinals would leave their top prospect in Triple-A next year? This doesn't make too much sense, as Wetherholt is the level of prospect that a team builds around. If he was the team's fifth or sixth ranked prospect, this argument would make sense. But he's the fifth or sixth ranked prospect in all of baseball. The star infielder has proved he can dominate at Triple-A. It's time for the Cardinals to bring him up to the big leagues to see what he can do. The rest of the roster can form around him.
