WWE suspends taping schedule after positive coronavirus test

On Monday evening, professional wrestling and mixed martial arts journalist Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that WWE postponed its taping schedule for Tuesday after a developmental performer tested positive for the coronavirus.

WWE released the following statement:

"A developmental talent, who was last on site at WWE’s training facility on Tuesday, June 9, has tested positive for COVID-19. Since that time, no other individuals that attended the facility have reported symptoms. However, out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the health and safety of the company's performers and staff, all talent, production crew and employees on site at the training and production facilities will be tested for COVID-19 immediately. Following the test results, WWE plans to proceed with its normal television production schedule."

Previously, the Observer noted that WWE executive Paul Levesque, known as "Triple H," declined to directly answer if the promotion repeatedly tested performers and other personnel for the coronavirus as do organizations such as the UFC and All Elite Wrestling

Additionally, the Observer explained that friends and family members of WWE performers were welcomed to Monday's television production and that at least two wrestlers danced with audience members for a "Raw" segment. Spectators weren't required to wear face masks.

Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez of the Observer/F4W Online spoke about the subject during Monday's "Wrestling Observer Radio."

"(WWE) told people, 'If you want to wear a mask, don't come,'" Meltzer reported.
