Former WWE star Andrade has recently opened up more about his issues between him and the promotion. Andrade was fired from the company in September. Notably, he made his AEW return on the October 1 episode of Dynamite, but WWE stepped in, and now he’s off the shelf. Why? Because, in the fine print, instead of the usual 90-day non-compete clause, there is actually a one-year non-compete for fired wrestlers. Andrade has stated that he knew nothing about the clause.
Andrade spoke about his contract issues with WWE during an interview with DeporTV. He told the outlet that the one-year clause only came about because they saw him on AEW television. Maybe a hint of jealousy? He said:
“At first I didn’t have a clause, I could fight leaving WWE. Then the clause came when they saw me debut in AEW. Well, now it’s nothing more than getting ready and a normal day is waking up, having dinner, training, going down to the beach, sunbathing, tanning, more than anything not thinking about that.” (H/T: Fightful)
So it’s a shame that such talent is being hindered, but when he was given the chance to wrestle in the Lucha Libre promotion, The Crash, he left the event early, well after he did the meet and greet. He was reportedly unhappy, and that's why he left early. So the drama seems to follow the star.
In good news, fans might be able to see him on TV soon. The luchador revealed in the interview that his lawyers have been talking to WWE’s lawyers, and there seemed to be some arrangement, and the matter could be wrapped up sooner than later. He revealed:
“My lawyers are already talking to the WWE lawyers, they are already reaching an arrangement. I don’t know the exact date but let’s hope it’s in a month, a week, or before. We can fight, we can go to court, but the lawyers told me that the process may be longer. It is also the expense, the process, and they are trying to negotiate so as not to go to court. They have reached a good arrangement and are doing things better. I think I have a date and my lawyer too, but it remains for WWE to officially sign it to say ‘okay, this is the day Andrade returns to the ring.'”
Elsewhere in the interview, Andrade spoke about why he even left AEW to go back to WWE in the first place. It’s not shocking that he did it for his then-wife, WWE star Charlotte Flair. Anyway, this whole situation might be over soon.
