Windham, who is also Rotunda’s brother-in-law, revealed that Rotunda was in hospice while speaking with Bill Apter in an interview from October 25. Though Windham didn’t disclose what illness Rotunda is currently battling. He said:

“It’s kind of tough right now. You know, Mike is in hospice right now… I love that family. I would like for you all to pray for Mike.” (h/t: WrestlePurists)

He was later asked by Apter if there was anything he wanted to say to the fans, to which Windham replied:

“Well, it’s been a great ride. And I would like for you all to pray for Mike.”

According to Medicare, a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less is the primary requirement for hospice care eligibility. Although there is always hope that Rotunda will improve, he undoubtedly has the whole wrestling community backing him.

Windham and Rotunda were inducted together into the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame for their career as their tag team, The U.S. Express. They made their WWE debut in the fall of 1984. The U.S. Express were two-time WWE Tag Team Champions. "Captain" Lou Albano was notably their manager. Some of the tag teams that they faced included Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik, Adrian Adonis and Dick Murdoch, and the Moondogs (Moondog Rex and Moondog Spot).

When they stopped being a tag team in the late 1980s, Rotunda became the notable Irwin R. Schyster, one of the biggest heels in WWE alongside "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase. They were known as Money Inc. and held the WWF Tag Team Titles three times.

Years later, Windham and Rotunda would reunite in 2001 for an All Japan Pro Wrestling event. Their last match as a tag team was in January 2005, where they teamed together to go against Larry Zbyszko and Ron Bass at a WrestleReunion event. Windham is now a retired wrestler. His last match was in 2010, while Rotunda's last match was in 2007 for the 15th Anniversary Raw episode. Rotunda had been one of the entrants in the 15th Anniversary Battle Royal.
