Bobby Lashley: There Needs To Be A Level Of Respect, We’ve Lost That In This Business
Alan Poizner / USA TODAY NETWORK

Bobby Lashley comments on the lack of respect in wrestling.

Carmelo Hayes dismissed Bobby Lahsley’s offer to help him on WWE SmackDown, and he took shots at the former WWE Champion on social media.

Speaking on WWE’s The Bump, Bobby Lashley was asked about Carmelo Hayes’ attitude towards him, including his tweets that mocked him.

“Damn, I never even saw that. I didn’t see him say that, because I was going to say something really nice about this kid,” Bobby Lashley said. “But now I just wanna go beat his ass. We have all these guys that come up to the main roster, and all they wanna do is start talking trash. Bro, I’ve been doing stuff before you even got here. I can just take my camera and just float around this doggone office alone and show him some of the things that he has never even came close to. So for the fact that he came and disrespected me now, that kind of pisses me off.”

Bobby Lashley: There Needs To Be A Level Of Respect

Bobby Lashley continued by noting that being a champion required some attitude. That being said, he took issue with Hayes disrespecting him. He noted that he showed respect to veterans when he was starting out in the business.

“Even in that little scene that you guys are talking about, I kind of chuckled,”Bobby Lashley said. “I was like ‘you know what, I like this guy. I like his little attitude.’ Because that’s the attitude you need to be a champion around here. But don’t disrespect the people that have already done the things that you want to be able to get to. I didn’t do that when I first came up, I had [Booker T], I had JBL, I had Batista, I had [John Cena], I had [Undertaker].

“Yes, I wanted to fight those guys, but by no means did I disrespect any one of those guys. They need to start understanding that this business is a business about respect, and respect is when you come up here, you respect the people that you want to compete against. Whether you win or lose, you respect them, and if you beat them, kudos to you, keep going. But there needs to be a level of respect, and we’ve lost that in this business. And if I need to be the one to start checking these guys, and showing these guys what respect is about, then sign me up.”

Bobby Lashley was set to compete in the King of the Ring tournament. However, he was replaced due to injury. More information is available here.
