Booker T Reschedules ROW To Honor John Cena's Retirement Match
John Cena leaving WWE Raw
  • Booker T moves ROW's SubZero from Dec 13 to Dec 20 to honor John Cena's final match.
  • Cena's final match airs Dec 13 on Saturday Night's Main Event, streaming exclusively on Peacock.
  • Reports say Gunther could be Cena's final opponent, though The Rock has also weighed in.

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T is honoring his former WWE opponent, John Cena, by changing his own company’s schedule. Booker T is the owner of the indie wrestling promotion Reality of Wrestling, and its winter event is conflicting with Cena’s retirement match.

Booker T Announces ROW Winter Event To Be Postponed

Booker T took to X on October 15 to announce that ROW Sub Zero will be moving from December 13, 2025, to December 20, 2025. The reason was that the original date coincided with John Cena’s final WWE match. The WWE NXT commentator wrote:

“In honor of @JohnCena’s final match taking place December 13th on Saturday Night’s Main Event, we at @TheOfficialROW have made the decision to move our annual winter event, #SubZero, to December 20th. Some moments in this business are bigger than any one show — and this is one of them. We want the entire wrestling world to come together to watch, reflect, and honor the greatest of all time as he takes his final bow. #ThankYouJohn.”

The last time the two were in the ring together was at the 2011 Royal Rumble, but before that, it was in 2005. Their main feud was from 2004 to 2005. So the two do have a history in the company, though Booker T might not be the first name people think of when thinking of John Cena’s career.

John Cena’s Final Match

As noted, Cena’s last match is set for Saturday Night’s Main Event and will air exclusively on Peacock. The location of the event is the Capitol Arena in Washington, D.C., so don’t be surprised if White House officials aren’t sitting in the crowd.

So, who is going to be Cena’s final WWE opponent? If The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer is correct, it will be Gunther. Per the outlet, it’s thought that WWE is going to hold a tournament, and the former WWE Heavyweight World Champion will be the winner.

Though Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has entered the chat. Last week, The Rock on the New Heights Podcast revealed that he had a little bit of input in the booking of Cena’s final match. He also hinted that he wants to be the final opponent. The last time the two titans faced each other was at WrestleMania XXVIII in April 2012, and The Rock won the match. Earlier in Cena’s retirement tour, he aligned himself with The Rock and turned heel. His heel turn didn’t exactly work out. It also didn’t help that Rock never came back during the heel run. Anyway, it will be interesting to see what happens and really there isn’t much time left of Cena’s career.
