Brock Lesnar is one of the most divisive figures in WWE right now, and his return at SummerSlam was controversial to say the least. While thousands inside MetLife Stadium lost their minds, others watching at home furiously got to work typing up their disdain on social media.
It's well documented that Brock is named in the lawsuit against Vince McMahon, which includes allegations of sex trafficking and sexual misconduct. The lawsuit claims that he was sent sexually explicit photos by the former WWE Chairman.
Brock hadn't been on TV in the midst of the lawsuit, and that was the case from SummerSlam 2023 to 2025. But he's back and has still been booked as dominant as ever, with his return match being an 'unnecessary' easy win over the soon-to-be-retired John Cena at Wrestlepalooza.
What is there left for Lesnar to do in WWE? It's a question that arose after his return, one that really has one answer, and it is to put the younger generation over.
It still seems peculiar to have the 48-year-old make such a shock return, beat Cena and then go missing until a likely Royal Rumble appearance. But if WWE's creative team are wise, they will use next year to signify that the Beast's run is over, and it's time for two other giants to be showcased as the company's new megastar monsters.
We might have to wait a little longer until Brock Lesnar is back from his post-Wrestlepalooza break, as reports have downplayed suggestions the Beast could be part of the Survivor Series WarGames match on November 29th in San Diego, California. It's easy to forget that he's now seemingly re-aligned with Paul Heyman after they made amends just ahead of his win over John Cena.
But if Lesnar is part of WarGames he'll likely be on a team consisting of The Vision's Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, who are two of WWE's current top powerhouses. That said, neither should be presented as the monster who manages to take down the former UFC Champion come WrestleMania 42.
The Royal Rumble kickstarts the Road to Mania on January 31st, 2026 and that's the perfect opportunity to debut Oba Femi. The Ruler is ready for a call-up but returned to NXT last Tuesday for 'one last reign' as NXT Champion, so it seems the higher-ups are holding fire on a main roster debut for now.
That gives them ample time to continue to build Oba as a colossal threat once he does arrive on RAW or SmackDown. He's bulked up even more upon returning to NXT, and it feels as though he could be the new era's answer to Lesnar.
Fans should see Brock and Oba go toe-to-toe for the first time in the Rumble match akin to how other powerhouses have debuted in the past. Think back to Keith Lee who looked a million bucks when he battled the Beast Incarnate in the 2020 Rumble.
Oba Femi should shock Brock and eliminate him and thus ignite a war between the two big men that culminates at WrestleMania 42. Imagine handing the Nigerian his big singles debut at the Show of Shows against arguably the best super heavyweight over the past decade.
"I don’t think there is a one-to-one correlation between Brock Lesnar and I. The athleticism and strength is there. But I think Oba Femi is a beast of its own. Personally, I don’t think anybody moves, talks, or walks like Oba Femi. I think Oba Femi is a very unique experience. The people who draw the most correlation between Lesnar and Femi are the people who have not seen a lot of Femi" - Oba Femi on Lesnar comparisons (via Reality of Wrestling)
The 27-year-old should get the victory and do so in convincing fashion. That leaves Lesnar accepting that his time is up. The former Universal Champion shook Cody Rhodes' hand at Summerslam over two years ago to seemingly give his approval of The American Nightmare becoming the new face of WWE.
Oba should similarly earn a tip of the hat from Lesnar in a sign of his respect and acknowledgment that he's the next big man to ascend to the top of the business. It would make for a star-making moment after a match that has the wider audience realizing just how good the 310 pounder really is.
When it's all said and done and Lesnar does decide to call time on his career, he'll do so with some of the most remarkable achievements in WWE history. One of those was ending The Undertaker's WrestleMania streak, which was the catalyst behind the longest world championship reign in decades until Roman Reigns' Universal Championship run.
WWE should strap a rocket onto Oba by having him run through the main roster with ease and book him similarly to Goldberg (in WCW) and Lesnar. Have him go undefeated for a significant period and in dominant fashion with no mischief due to interferences or disqualifications on a regular basis.
Oba could spend a year undefeated, win the Rumble in 2027 and challenge for the world title at WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia. He's a big box office attraction and the whole world will watch whether he remains undefeated and becomes world champion a year after 'retiring' Lesnar.
