Chavo Guerrero Returns, Signs With WWE – What This Could Mean For a Current Storyline

Multiple sources on November 12th, 2025, reported that Chavo Guerrero, part of the famed Guerrero Wrestling Clan, has signed a new deal with WWE. From the same reports, Guerrero will work on AAA shows, presumably primarily helping backstage to put the shows on for the newly acquired Mexican promotion. Chavo Guerrero is definitely a big get for WWE and AAA, considering he has decades of experience in and outside of the ring.

Before the WWE Return

The last we saw Chavo in a WWE ring was on an episode of the game show version of WWE NXT in 2011, where he was a pro to the then-Darren Young, now Fred Rosser who’s signed to NJPW, wherein he teamed with Young and JTG to take on the trio of Yoshi Tatsu, Vladimir Kozlov, and Conor O’Brian, more famously known as Konnor of The Ascenion.

Guerrero would then go on to perform for TNA Wrestling, Lucha Underground, and even worked for Netflix for a spell during its wrestling-themed show GLOW, as well as the NBC series Young Rock. The most recent foray of  Chavo Guerrero when it came to mainstream wrestling was when he worked for All Elite Wrestling (AEW), acting as the manager for Andrade El Idolo, as well as briefly appearing for Ring of Honor (ROH).

Now, after 14 years away from WWE, Guerrero is back in the fold. Guerrero was a multi-time WWE Tag Team Champion with his uncle Eddie Guerrero, as well as a four-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion, and a former ECW Champion.

What This Could Mean

As established, Guerrero will more than likely have a role as a backstage asset for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, which he will do amazingly considering his years of experience. That said, there’s a lot of potential as far as the on-air product is concerned; there’s one enticing prospect that WWE could use him for: the Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio feud.

Rey and Chavo have had a tremendous amount of history together, even feuding over the late-Eddie Guerrero’s legacy at some point. WWE could utilize this connection to intensify further the feud between the Mysterios, which could lead to a match at this year’s WWE Survivor Series: WarGames.

It seems like Dom and his father have a long-term program in the works beyond Survivor Series, with Rey returning recently before “Dirty” Dom lost his Intercontinental Title to confront him, and they got into a heated war of words on who “the Greatest Mysterio” really is.

If WWE really wants to kick this thing up a notch, Guerrero could side with Rey, educating the Young Mysterio about the battles he had with his father and the enormous amount of triumphs Rey had over him, over the WWE Cruiserweight Title, as well in WCW, and a lot of other legends, which earned Rey Mysterio his place in the annals of WWE and wrestling lore, in general. This could all end with Dominik battering Chavo to prove that he can do things his father can’t do to make a statement.
