Chris Jericho gushes over AEW's latest star addition

Will Ospreay is joining AEW as announced during their "Full Gear" show that aired on Saturday. Over the past two years, Ospreay has developed into one of the hottest commodities in the wrestling world. He undoubtedly had offers from every major company with his current contract with New Japan drawing to an end.

Chris Jericho believes Ospreay made the right choice by joining AEW. The creative freedom afforded to stars will likely see the 30-year-old's character continue to develop in the coming years, which could see his stock rise even further.

"He has a character that is very believable, and I think that’s something he’s really going to get to focus on in AEW that you don’t get a chance to in New Japan because of the communication gap," Jericho told the media after Full Gear. h/t to Fightful for the transcription. "I think this is the right place for him. I think we know what to do with Will Ospreay. There are a lot of huge matches he can have here, and to do the style he wants to do for as long as he wants to do it. To me, he’s one of the most valuable players in the world and one of the biggest gets AEW can acquire, so I’m excited about that."

AEW has enjoyed a strong year in attracting new talent. First, they landed Jay White despite interest from every major promotion. Then, they snatched Hall of Famer Adam Copeland away from WWE. Now, Ospreay.

The AEW roster is evolving and continues to add elite-level depth at every turn. Ospreay's addition will be seen as a coup, though.

If Tony Khan can keep MJF with the company when he enters free agency next year, then AEW will have two of the best young talents in the world on their roster. They also have up-and-comers such as Darby Allin and Ricky Starks. Ospreay's addition proves the future is bright for AEW and if Jericho is giving his seal of approval, you know the deal was smart business.
