In 2024, the wrestling landscape may go through some changes. Many wrestlers from WWE, All Elite Wrestling, and others could test free agency once their contract expires.

AEW fans have seen several big moves over the last few months, with talent like Adam Copeland and Will Ospreay signing with the company. Meanwhile, WWE has signed Jade Cargill and CM Punk to their roster.

One talent that has an opportunity to test free agency next year is WWE Superstar Sheamus. His contract is supposed to expire next year. It's unclear if he is in talks to re-sign with WWE or wants to stay with the company. "The Celtic Warrior" has been in WWE for over 14 years and has arguably a Hall of Famer career. This could present a decision to try to explore what his value is outside of the company.

In an interview with the WrestleTalk podcast's Luke Owen, AEW superstar Claudio Castagnoli shared his thoughts on Sheamus and why any company should look to sign him.

"...He's awesome. I mean, any company that has him has a tremendous asset. I mean, he's just an absolute workhorse. One of the hardest workers in and outside of the ring that I know," said Castagnoli.

Although Castagnoli competes for AEW and likely would be happy to see Sheamus join, he ultimately wants what is best for his friend.

"...I think it's always whatever is best for my friends, for them, you know what I mean, and it's also just fun to see what will happen," said Castagnoli.

What Is Next For Sheamus?

Sheamus hasn't been on WWE TV for quite some time. His last match was a loss against Copeland(FKA Edge) at the August 18 episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown. On September 26, Wrestler Observer's Dave Meltzer reported that "The Celtic Warrior"  was dealing with a shoulder injury and that there was no timeframe for when he could return.

His faction, The Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Ridge Holland & Butch), has also teased splitting up recently. On the November 24 episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown, Holland abandoned Butch in their tag team match against Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson). This resulted in Butch losing and looking visibly upset with his partner.

It's unclear when "The Celtic Warrior" will make a return. Hopefully, he can fully recover and continue his wrestling career heading into a contract year in 2024.
