CM Punk signed the contract to wrestle Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 41, and Paul Heyman confirmed that the match would be one of the main events of the show. An emotional Punk thanked Roman Reigns for helping make that happen, but then dropped a revelation that being in the main event wasn't the favor The Wiseman is owed.
The final segment of SmackDown on Friday saw Punk, Rollins, and Reigns all take to the ring to sign the contract to solidify in their Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania 41. Rollins and Reigns signed rather quickly; they were worried more about the reaction from the London crowd. When Punk came out, he combed through the contract with much greater attention to the fine print. An annoyed Tribal Chief told Paul Heyman to hurry things along, to which Heyman knelt beside Punk and gave him the news he was looking for.
"I know what you're looking for," he said. "And it's in there. You're closing the show at WrestleMania. You get to live your dream of all dreams. CM Punk you are a WrestleMania main eventer."
Heyman then revealed that Punk was finally going to realize his dream and headline WrestleMania. Heyman was happy for Punk, gave him a kiss on the head, and stood back up. Punk had tears in his eyes, but Rollins was livid. He was furious that Punk was going to get to headline a show Rollins had tried so hard to make sure was never headlined by a superstar who once left WWE and bashed the company for years after his exit.
Punk thanked everyone, especially the WWE Universe, for chanting his name for 10 years to make this moment possible.
When Reigns said he was owed a thank you and an acknowledgement, Punk gave it to him. He bent a knee and said he acknowledged the Tribal Chief. However, he also said, “That’s not the favour that I’m owed.”
What Punk means isn't clear. The show faded to black right after he said the words, leaving the program to end with a cliffhanger. Will Punk call in his chit prior to WrestleMania? Or, is this going to be hanging over the match until the night of the match? Will it be revealed during the contest and affect the outcome?
