Now that we're living in an era where video game movies are consistently good, Capcom and Sony Pictures are taking another crack at a live-action Street Fighter movie. It has already been confirmed that one WWE Superstar, Roman Reigns, will be a part of the Street Fighter movie cast, with The Tribal Chief signed on to play Akuma. Now it's looking like he might be acting alongside one of his most bitter rivals.
According to Nexus Point News, Cody Rhodes is also being eyed for a role in Sony's Street Fighter movie. If you're familiar with the core Street Fighter roster, think for a second who exactly Rhodes might kind of look like who hasn't been cast yet. If your mind immediately went to Guile, and it really should have, you'd be right.
Yes, apparently, Rhodes is in talks to play the role of Guile in the upcoming Street Fighter movie. A muscly guy with bright blonde hair? It's already clear that whoever's in charge of casting this film is a wrestling fan, hence them looking to Reigns for Akuma. It seems they skimmed the rest of the top of WWE's roster for other ideas and if this new report is accurate and the talks manifest into a fully fledged deal, the next time Rhodes and Reigns meet could be on a film set.

Reigns doesn't exactly have the longest resume when it comes to movie roles, with his only prominent acting job so far being the one he bagged alongside his cousin, The Rock, in Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw. As far as I'm aware, The American Nightmare has never been in a movie before. Outside of wrestling, his only acting experience comes from a few bit part roles in television shows, most notably in Arrow, thanks to his friendship with Stephen Amell.
The cast for the Street Fighter movie is gradually coming together, and it's really something. Along with Reigns and potentially Rhodes, Jason Momoa is playing Blanka, 50 Cent is Balrog, and Chun-Li will be played by Callina Liang. Based on the casting alone, the movie is starting to sound a little bit like a fever dream. I'm really hoping that dream becomes a reality. It might just about make up for The Miz being passed over for the role of Johnny Cage in the new Mortal Kombat movies.
