Cody Rhodes Shares Incredible Stone Cold Steve Austin Story

Since his return to WWE in 2022, Cody Rhodes has quickly become the face of WWE. He's the ultimate company flag bearer, working at every live event, making endless media availabilities, and consistently putting on banger matches in the ring.Part of Cody's undeniable appeal is his ability to convey emotion through storytelling, a trait he got from his legendary dad, Dusty Rhodes. In the 90s, Cody spent a lot of time in WCW, where his late father was a commentator and producer. In a recent interview, Cody revealed a heartwarming anecdote during that time involving a wrestling icon.

On the latest episode of Stephanie's Places, the Undisputed WWE Champion shared a fun childhood interaction with Stone Cold Steve Austin. "He (Stone Cold) babysat me," Rhodes said. "He was a legit real babysitter. Most of the guys at that age didn't feel like they needed to watch me, but he would check in. If you were in WCW, you knew Steve Austin was awesome—he was outstanding."

It is incredible to hear about how two industry titans were able to cross paths in such a unique way. Cody's best trait is his ability to cobble together bits and pieces from stars of past generations to use in a modern twist. Austin is a true one-of-one performer, but Cody definitely has shades of that Texas rattlesnake fire.

The business might not be as white-hot as when Austin was on top, but it's close. Cody is at the forefront of a modern boom period and is ready to headline another WrestleMania and continue to forge his own historic legacy.
