Wednesday Update

WWE

  • While speaking with Adam’s Apple, Randy Orton addressed how much longer he plans to wrestle:
        • If you would have asked me two years ago, I would have thought I was close to the end. But I had spinal fusion about a year and a half ago. That changed the game. I had been in pain through my entire 30s and was hurting. I was begging for time off when I was 35. I think Vince's [McMahon] quote to me was, 'Mother nature gets us all.' That's hard to hear when you're 35, and your back hurts, and you're busting your ass for this company. There have been some changes. And now, I think instead of pushing the guys and running their dicks into the ground until they fall apart, there is a great atmosphere of 'How can we make this guy last?'
        • The beauty of it is I'm not even there yet. I feel so great after my surgery. I'm a full-time guy. I don't want to do the old Undertaker or Shawn Michaels schedule, which they needed to do, understandably. Wrestle at WrestleMania, take the summer off, maybe you see them at SummerSlam. I want to be on the road every week. I want to make all the TVs. I want to be on all the PLEs. At 44, I would love to be able to go until my 50s. Maybe I wrestle until I'm 50 and call it. That's 30 years, 30 years with the same company, on top.
  • After Asuka was pulled from the Queen of the Ring tournament due to injury, Nia Jax posted a tweet praising her:
        • [Asuka] has been working live events and TV every single week in pain. Traveling the world with brutal flights and bus rides, and gave 1000 percent every night for the fans! @WWEAsuka is the best!!!
  • Drew McIntyre posted a social media video responding to CM Punk’s promo from Monday’s Raw.
  • Sheamus explained why there won’t be a fourth match between him and Gunther: “There aint gonna be no quadrilogy so 3-0 is the final tally. I am done. Some will argue he tapped, he used a weapon, he had outside interference.. ok! give him bragging rights, I fought fair & with honour. Those who cheat to win are only fooling themselves & the dim witted.”
  • WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded the full Roxanne Perez vs. Chelsea Green NXT Women’s Championship match from last night.
  • Kevin Owens, Zelina Vega, and Bobby Lashley were today’s guests on WWE’s The Bump.
  • The Babyfaces Podcast interviewed Jade Cargill.
  • WWE wished happy birthday to IYO SKY (34) and Tommaso Ciampa (39).

AEW/Other Wrestling

  • Jay White vs. Rocky Romero has been announced for tonight’s AEW Dynamite.
  • The Control Center video for tonight’s Dynamite can be watched here.
  • On Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Max Caster said he feels insulted whenever AEW signs someone because he thinks the promotion already has the best roster:
        • I'm insulted. I really am. I want to see them prove themselves. And, you know, talking about the people that we signed recently, I think Will Ospreay has proved himself. Give him all the credit in the world. He's an amazing wrestler. Okada, I think once he's situated in the country and he's on TV every week, we will see. But that doesn't take away from how great of a wrestler he is. He's here, we got to live with it. But if you had asked me before we signed him, ‘Max, do you think Okada should be here?’ I go, ‘If you want, but I could do that for you.’
  • The Season Four Pass for AEW’s Fight Forever video game is now available to purchase.
  • Collectibles company Youtooz is teasing a collaboration with AEW.
  • Here’s the announced lineup for this Thursday’s episode of TNA Impact:

        • Jonathan Gresham in action
        • First Class (Rich Swann & AJ Francis) vs. The FBI (Ray Jaz & Zack Clayton)
        • ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey) vs. Speedball Mountain (Mike Bailey & Trent Seven) – winning team advances to face each other in an X-Division Championship number one contender’s match
  • MCW Pro Wrestling created a tribute video for wrestler Brandon “Dick Dynamo” Holman following his passing. The promotion announced on Monday:
        • With a heavy heart and a complete loss for words, the MCW Pro Wrestling family mourns the loss of Brandon Holman, better known to fans as Dick Dynamo.
        • Brandon was the epitome of hard work and was never one to shy away from a challenge. Our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences go out to his family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time.
        • For anybody out there who feels like the world has left them behind; you are important, you matter and you are not alone.
