Dominik Mysterio has that Eddie Guerrero-like wit, and that perception only gets firmer every time he digs deep into his arsenal. The Judgment Day member was thrown into deep waters when it was announced that he would have to defend his Intercontinental Championship in a triple threat at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Mysterio took on Penta and Rusev in what was expected by many to be a potential show-stealer. The triple threat bout didn’t disappoint at all. At one point, when Rusev locked Penta into his Accolade submission maneuver, the bell started ringing even though the Mexican wrestler hadn’t tapped out.

Rusev started celebrating, thinking he won the title, but the referee was nimble in his job to let the Bulgarian know that he didn’t call for the bell.

A perplexed Rusev turned his attention over to the ringside and spotted Mysterio with the bell hammer in hand in the timekeeper’s area. The ending came when Penta grabbed hold of the hammer and accidentally clocked Rusev in the face instead of Mysterio. The latter got rid of Penta and landed a frog splash on ‘The Bulgarian Brute’ to get the pinfall.

‘Dirty Dom’ registered yet another successful retention of his Intercontinental title with that chicanery. Now that the AAA Mega Champion has had enough of Penta and Rusev of late, it’s time for him to move forward. And if the reports are to be true, he’s on a collision course with John Cena.

The 17-time world champion is set to return to WWE television on the November 10 episode of Raw in Boston. It could be where Mysterio gets in his way with the IC title also in the mix. Cena is likely to challenge ‘Dom’ in his hometown of San Diego at Survivor Series later this month. Not only that, but Cena potentially dethroning Mysterio for the championship has also been discussed within WWE.

Jade Cargill ends Tiffany Stratton’s lengthy women’s title reign at Saturday Night’s Main Event

In the only women’s match on the card at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Tiffany Stratton defended her women’s title against Jade Cargill. ‘The Buff Barbie’ had been reigning supreme since winning the gold on the first SmackDown episode of 2025 in January. After an almost 10-month stint with it, Stratton’s stay on the top is over. Cargill worked on Stratton’s injured left knee the entire match.

‘The Storm’ hit numerous powerbombs to soften up the former US gymnast and followed them up with her Jaded finishing maneuver to win her first singles title in WWE. This new-look Jade Cargill has turned some heads since turning heel a couple of weeks ago. WWE pulled the trigger on her by rewarding the former AEW TBS Champion.

She started this year on a red-hot note by showing immense spark in that incredible Naomi feud. Cargill is on the verge of closing it out on the best possible note now that she holds the keys to the kingdom on the blue brand.

With WrestleMania still months away, the fans have already started dreaming about Cargill opposing someone she’s way too familiar with—Bianca Belair. ‘The EST’ has been out of action since suffering a broken finger at WrestleMania 41.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful noted that Belair was in Salt Lake City this weekend. It’s where both SmackDown and Saturday Night’s Main Event were held. It appears that Belair is apparently on her way back to WWE programming sooner rather than later.

Belair has some unfinished business with Cargill, as they were the tag team champions at the time when Naomi mysteriously ambushed ‘The Storm’ in a backstage assault. ‘The EST’ was emotionally broken after learning that it was Naomi who took Cargill out. WWE left the story open between Belair and Cargill, and it’s more than likely to be revisited in the near future.
