There can only be one! It appears that WWE’s own Scottish warrior, Drew McIntyre, is going to be starring in the “Highlander” reboot. Deadline has reported the news on Friday, September 26.

Drew McIntyre Joins Highlander

According to the exclusive report, McIntyre will star as Angus MacLeod, the brother of the film’s main character, Connor MacLeod. “The Witcher” and “Man of Steel” actor Henry Cavill is playing Connor. The role was originally played by Christopher Lambert in the 1986 version as well as the sequels.

Along with Cavill and McIntyre, the film also stars former WWE Superstar Dave Batista, Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, and Max Zhang.

McIntyre actually made his film debut in the 2024 action comedy, “Killer’s Game,” which also starred Batista. Batista helped McIntyre get the role.

The action fantasy film is from Amazon MGM Studio’s United Artists and is being directed by Chad Stahelski. Stahelski is known for directing the “John Wick” movies. Stahelski is also a stuntman.

WWE Fans React To The News

WWE fans reacted to McIntyre’s upcoming film role with mostly positive things to say about the wrestler. One fan actually shaded John Cena, writing:

“That actually sounds like a good cast. Better than a Cena movie.”

Another fan brought up WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H liking celebrities, so maybe McIntyre will get a title again. The last time that McIntyre held the WWE World Heavyweight Title, it didn’t end well for him. He lost it in a matter of seconds to Damian Priest at WrestleMania XL. The fan wrote:

“Since he’s about to be a movie star maybe triple nose will actually put the title on him since he loves celebrities so much.”

One fan joked:

“Best of luck with the role and learning the Scottish accent.”

Another tweeted:

“Super happy for you! Looking forward to seeing it. Hope you get to take someone's head off with a Claymore and I'm not talking about the sword. Haha.”

A fan brought up McIntyre’s recent feud with Cody Rhodes. They wrote:

“Only way to beat Cody Homelander is to become Drew Highlander!”

Drew himself took to social media to share the huge news. He shared the article from Deadline along with a clip from “The Simpsons” of Troy McClure. An official release date for the “Highlander” reboot has yet to be announced, so WWE fans will have to wait a bit to see McIntyre in this role.
