When talking on podcasts, WWE Superstar CM Punk is a popular subject for a lot of other current and retired professional wrestlers. WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre is a man who never lets go of his grudges, and one of those grudges is against Punk. While a guest on the Huge Pop with Donnie DaSilva and Jimmy Korderas, McIntyre questioned Bret Hart’s praise for Punk.
Well, McIntyre believes that Punk can’t execute his moves and doesn’t understand why WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart thinks that he’s a good wrestler. McIntyre was a fan of Hart growing up, but it looks like if Hart keeps being a Punk fan, that might change. Punk was brought up because McIntyre was criticizing those who talk about their wrestling moves instead of just doing them.
“The moves do matter, that’s a prerequisite. If you’re a wrestler and you don’t do the moves well, you shouldn’t be a wrestler. I shouldn’t have to say the moves are important because of course the moves are important. You should be able to execute them well. CM Punk, I don’t know how Bret loves him so much, he’s like the opposite of the Excellence of Execution. His moves are executed terribly, but he believes everything he says and people buy his crap. Good for him, I guess. To me, as a wrestler growing up and as a Bret Hart fan, you should be able to do the moves well. That should be a given. You shouldn’t have to talk about the moves because you should just do them. What’s important on top of that is emotional connection. How are you going to do that and connect with the fans? So many people worry about all the intricate sequences and whatever they’ve got in their head. All it takes is one split second of looking in someone’s eyes and see they are thinking too much or are not present in that moment.” (H/T:Fightful)
It's funny because when thinking about feuds, Hart is someone who, like McIntyre, holds his grudges. Hart still holds grudges against Goldberg and even the late Hulk Hogan. Earlier this month, the WWE Hall of Famer said that Punk was one of the “top wrestlers today." Though in the past, he had also praised McIntyre.
In an interview in 2019, Hart expressed to Sports Illustrated that he was happy that McIntyre’s career was going better than his first run in WWE. His second run included two Undisputed WWE Championship runs and a very, very short WWE World Heavyweight Championship run, thanks to Punk ruining it for him. Hart said:
"A big guy I’ve been a big fan of for a long time is Drew McIntyre and his work. I’m glad that he had a rebound and he’s doing really well."
Anyway, the last time that Punk and McIntyre went against each other in a singles match was at WWE Bad Blood 2024, where Punk defeated McIntyre in a Hell in a Cell match. It was there that their feud died – or so Punk thinks.
