Drew McIntyre choice to interfere in the Elimination Chamber match has him in a world of trouble. Instead of being protected going into WrestleMania, SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis announced he will face Cody Rhodes this Friday for the title.

Following Adlis’ bombshell, the WWE universe was divided on what the result should be in this upcoming showdown. Given the recent developments, there is a good chance McIntyre could lose the title. At the moment, there is no stipulation announced for this match. In the scenario where it stays that way, the match should end in a particular way to keep the story going into WrestleMania.
A few months ago, Rhodes put the title on the line against McIntyre on SmackDown. In a not-so-babyface way, Rhodes decided to get himself disqualified by hitting McIntyre with the belt and ending the match. This would be a pivotal point in their still-standing feud.

In multiple promos, McIntyre would try to convince the audience that he’s not the bad guy in the scenarios he finds himself in. If this is the path that is taken, McIntyre can sway the audience into believing his actions are completely justified, given that Rhodes did the same thing to him.
Fans might be let down at first, but returning that favor would honestly be a smart move from McIntyre. He is seemingly hell-bent on ensuring Rhodes never gets close to taking the championship off his hands. Not only will this continue to push Rhodes to limits he hasn’t been taken to in a long time, but it will also be key in keeping Rhodes involved for the long haul.
With WrestleMania matches still in limbo due to multiple factors, the WWE will be walking a tight rope in this potential match. There’s no doubt that there are a good number of fans who root for Rhodes, but others want him away from the title. With Rhodes not winning either the Royal Rumble or the Chamber, there’s reason to hear out why he should be in another feud.
Nonetheless, the fact of the matter is that Rhodes is one of, if not the top star. It should be a foregone conclusion that he is going to be involved in a match for the WWE Championship at Mania. For the doubters to come to the light on why that should be, McIntyre continuing to mess up opportunities for Rhodes should be the driving force.
It’s now twice that McIntyre was involved in matches that involved a pursuit for his title, and the most recent instance ultimately cost Rhodes. Having McIntyre cheat his way out of a match will only make the case for having Rhodes in the match even stronger.
Having McIntyre defend the title in a fatal four-way match seems to be the ideal move. Randy Orton winning the Chamber was a sign that the WWE knew that no one wanted to see Rhodes and McIntyre in another match. There was already a three stages of hell match, what possibly more could be left between those two?
The dynamic of adding Jacob Fatu to the match, who also hates McIntyre, only adds more fuel to the fire. It would also be interesting to see if they reveal who ended up attacking Fatu months ago, and it ends up being Orton or Rhodes. That would be another wrench thrown into this whole situation and would make this potential match even more explosive.
Many would call this potential outcome predictable, but it is undoubtedly the best path forward and would be a hell of a main event at Mania.
