Dustin Rhodes has had one of the more legendary careers in professional wrestling and he can now add another championship belt to his resume. At AEW: All in 2025, Dustin Rhodes would win the vacated AEW TNT Championship, the first time that he won a championship with All Elite Wrestling. Let’s take a deeper dive into what happened and what it means going forward for AEW.
Before the match, Adam Cole would head to the ring and announce that he is dealing with a health issue and did not want to think about retirement, but wanted to say goodbye to the AEW crowd. Cole had tears in his eyes as he was joined by Paragon team members Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong. The TNT Championship was originally scheduled to be Cole vs. Kyle Fletcher, but would be changed to a four-way with Fletcher vs. Dustin Rhodes vs. Sammy Guevara vs. Daniel Garcia.
The match was entertaining, but for the first time since joining All Elite Wrestling at its inception, Dustin Rhodes would hold an AEW championship. The closing of the match saw Daniel Garcia lock Rhodes in a dragon tamer but Rhodes would change the leverage and get the pin before Sammy Guevara could break it up. After the match, members of the Rhodes family (not Cody Rhodes) would join the ring and celebrate as Guevara was in the corner and shocked before shaking the new champion’s hand.
Not bad for someone who is under contract for another five years to get the championship. It will be interesting to see how the TNT Championship picture looks going forward as Rhodes also holds the Ring Of Honor World & Six-Man Tag Team Championships.
