Even though some wrestling pundits have criticized WWE’s decision to let Bill Goldberg wrestle Gunther for the coveted World Heavyweight Championship in his final outing at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12, ECW’s cornerstone and legend Tommy Dreamer thinks differently. Recently, the 54-year-old was a guest on Jonathan Coachman‘s Off The Ropes podcast. During the conversation, Coachman asked Dreamer if he was enjoying any bit of the former WCW champion’s ongoing rivalry with ‘The Ring General’.
Dreamer responded by saying it’s been the best usage of the feud with the kind of role Gunther is playing at the moment. The Heart and Soul of ECW added that, unlike most of the heels, who are jerks by default, the Austrian’s microphone dumping of Goldberg has a twisted truth to it. Dreamer brought up The Ring General’s promo on the June 30th edition of Raw, in which the 37-year-old savagely mocked the highlights of Goldberg’s career and quipped how all of that can be summed up in three minutes, just like his fast-paced, full-throttle matches inside the ring.
……he’s also like has good comedic timing without realizing he’s like a comedy guy. Because how he said, ‘Oh, you enjoyed that three minute package just like Bill’s matching.‘

The former ECW champion pointed out that Gunther has supreme comedic timing, and he’s funny without even trying enough. Dreamer believes that there’s a bright chance of fans cheering for their current World Heavyweight Champion despite the fact that his showdown against the WWE Hall of Famer will emanate from the latter’s adopted hometown of Atlanta. The crowds have already started to ooze split nature between the two belligerents.

The erstwhile Walter is hellbent on burying the myth and the legacy of Bill Goldberg at Saturday Night’s Main Event. As for the Vienna-born wrestler, three minutes might suffice to dispatch the so-called 58-year-old one-trick pony. However, what if the Tulsa native pulls off the mother of all upsets on July 12 to leave everyone shell-shocked? The possibility of it, though sparse, can’t be ruled out. However, Gunther also faced resistance from two other mainstays on this week’s RAW.
After Gunther was done talking trash about Goldberg on Raw, Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman came out to confront the World Champion. ‘The Visionary’ spoke fondly about costing CM Punk the Undisputed WWE Championship match against John Cena at Night of Champions.
Rollins then reaffirmed that he would launch an all-out assault on both the world titles until he finally decides to cash in on one of them through his Money in the Bank contract. After that, Punk’s entrance music hit, and the place went bonkers. The Best in the World went right after his arch-rival, forcing the latter to retreat.

The Ring General was surveying the scene in the meantime and got shoved to the ground by Punk in response to blocking the former WWE Champion’s way. It seemed to many that promotion may finally pull the trigger on Gunther vs. Punk after holding it off for this long on the main roster. Meanwhile, the Austrian gave some news regarding his former Imperium stablemate.
One of Gunther’s biggest advocates and a real-life best friend, Ludwig Kaiser, has quietly been disbanded from The Ring General’s tutelage. They haven’t appeared together on screen for many months, and the fans were pretty concerned about their relationship.
However, Gunther has cleared the air on the matter through an appearance on the Masked Man Show. The Austrian revealed that everything’s well between the two, and in fact, they recently traveled to Italy together to attend a friend’s wedding. So it’s a case of WWE discontinuing their pairing, and it has nothing to do with any differences between Gunther and Kaiser, as their friendship is intact.

Speaking of Kaiser, he showed up as El Grande Americano on this week’s Raw after Chad Gable was sidelined to nurse a shoulder injury. The German wrestler had been eavesdropping on Gable and his crew in recent weeks. It appears that the 34-year-old will continue disguising himself as Americano for the time being.
