Triple H's SummerSlam post-show conference has fueled speculation amongst fans that the Karrion Kross experiment is over, as his WWE contract looks set to expire this month.
Kross suffered a third consecutive loss to Sami Zayn on night one of the biggest party of the summer, and many feel this could be the 40-year-old's last match with the company. He has become a fan favourite this year, but only just started being featured on PLEs as a singles star.
Kross and Scarlett received a huge pop when making their entrance at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Saturday. Many feel he should have won, given his recent surge in popularity.
Triple H discussed night one of SummerSlam, including Seth Rollins' "shock" return and cashing his Money in the Bank briefcase on CM Punk to become World Heavyweight Champion. He touched on every match except Kross', which didn't go unnoticed by fans, and they reckon it could mean he'll be leaving shortly.
One fan wrote on X:
"At the post-show conference, Triple H talked about every single match that happened tonight, except for Karrion Kross vs. Sami Zayn. Either we’re getting worked once again… or it might actually be over."

Another feels WWE are making a mistake:
"WWE fumbling Kross bad!"
Another agreed:
"Sadly I fear that was his swan song in WWE."
Kross had exclusively told TheSportster about his excitement ahead of his SummerSlam match against Zayn. He echoed the desire from fans to see him featured on PLEs:
"I'm looking forward to all of it. Really feels good to be in the swing of things, having singles matches on PLEs. People have wanted it for a long time. Now they got it. We're here. This has been a crazy week. There's a lot of things that have happened in my life that have brought me to today. You and I having this conversation right now, especially with this behind me, is surreal. Just taking it all in, really, man."
The former NXT Champion returned to WWE in August 2022, after being released from the company in November 2021. He naturally gained popularity using social media and his engaging promo skills. He started feuding with Zayn, one of WWE's top babyfaces but has come out of their feud ultimately as the loser.
There is a possibility fans are being swerved, and WWE could be about to turn Kross babyface because of how hot he's become. He has been using a tweener persona in recent months, gaining fans' support while targeting heroes such as Zayn.
Some of Kross' best work has been his promos, including his and Scarlett's "warning" upon arriving on NXT's roster five years ago. When he's given free rein creatively, he can steal the show, and a babyface run could see him reach the main event level.
WWE reportedly viewed Kross as a future main event talent during his time in developmental, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Cultaholic). They thought he had "the look, the entrance, and the right manager in Scarlett" to be at the top of the card.
The former TNA star's future may be uncertain, but he has released an autobiography titled "Life is Fighting" that speaks volumes about his dedication to the business. It explores "his relentless journey to the top of sports entertainment", which perhaps could be on the way thanks to his connection with fans who continuously chant "we want Kross".
WWE SummerSlam night two takes place tonight, August 3rd, at 6pm ET, exclusively on Peacock. Check your local listings for start times in your area.
