Finn Balor has been associated with The Judgment Day faction since the summer of 2022. He enjoyed renewed success in the group that once comprised him, Dominik Mysterio , Damian Priest , and Rhea Ripley . Then, at SummerSlam 2024, the stable underwent a major shakeup, with Balor betraying Priest and Mysterio dumping his Mami.
While the current iteration of Judgment Day has Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez , Carlito, and JD McDonagh shining in their roles, Balor has gone stagnant. WWE has even teased that there’s some tension simmering between the Irishman and the rest of the group, particularly Dirty Dom. Speaking of which, The Prince recently posted a picture from WWE Backlash.

In the following post, the inaugural Universal Champion could be seen staring at Mysterio, who’s celebrating after retaining his IC title against Penta. While the latter came oh-so-close to dethroning the 28-year-old, a certain El Grande Americano came unsolicited to derail the ex-AEW star’s ambitions. Just as Mysterio won, he scurried to the outside and mingled with his teammates, except for Balor.
The Irish Captor didn’t once seem over the moon with Dirty Dom’s antics and even maintained a stern look. Balor couldn’t help but gaze at the Intercontinental Championship, which currently rests on Daddy Dom’s shoulders.
The writing is on the wall, and the fans could also feel it. Balor is expected to turn on Mysterio imminently. As per a December 2024 report, the real-life Fergal Devitt was lined up for a sustained singles push in 2025.
Adding yet another chapter to their illustrious history, Finn Balor will square off against AJ Styles on Raw this week. This came about after an altercation Styles had with The Judgment Day. He reminded Dominik Mysterio a week before Backlash that he’ll be coming after that Intercontinental Championship no matter if Dirty Dom had held on to it or not.
But now that Mysterio is still the champ, he’s going to inevitably cross paths with The Phenomenal One. Liv Morgan‘s on-screen boyfriend asked Balor to take care of Styles on his behalf. At first, The Demon King snapped and wondered why he had to clean up Mysterio’s mess all the time. It was another one of those moments where WWE conspicuously teased that there’s trouble in paradise between Balor and Mysterio.
But before things could turn ugly, The Prince backtracked and acted as if he was just messing around. The 43-year-old promised his stablemate that he’d take care of Styles in the ring. The Georgia Pitbull last wrestled Balor in a singles match way back in 2022 at Survivor Series: WarGames. Styles won that encounter despite The Irish Captor throwing the kitchen sink at his rival.
While he’s 43 at the moment, Finn Balor has maintained a ripped physique that many wrestlers dream of in their 20s and 30s. He still has a lot to offer to WWE, which is why a ton of fans are upset with the company’s treatment of him. The fan-favorite star hasn’t won any singles titles in over three years, but has continued to be featured heavily on WWE television under Triple H‘s regime.
Last year, the Irish wrestler opened up about the lowest phase in his professional career. Speaking on the What’s Your Story? podcast, the former Bullet Club member said that two months prior to his heel turn, when he was unveiled as the leader of Judgment Day, replacing Edge, were the darkest of times for him.
Balor was showing up to work completely unmotivated and was fine with whatever was presented to him by the creative team. The veteran superstar felt that he could’ve added more value to the roster but wasn’t able to. He also revealed that it was Edge, now Adam Copeland , who pushed for Balor to be used more. That’s how the entire thing about Balor replacing The Rated-R Superstar in the Judgment Day came to fruition.
