According to a confirmation report from Fightful Select, former NXT and United States Champion Andrade has reportedly been released from WWE.
The ex-AEW star was moved to WWE's alumni page on Saturday.
Andrade's WWE career can be summed up in one word: wasted.
After he and Zelina Vega were called up to the main roster, Andrade had the potential to be a WrestleMania-level main event attraction. He possessed the look, in-ring skills, and character to appeal to a wide base of fans as either a heel or babyface. The parallels to Eddie Guerrero were obvious.
At times, the company put effort into booking him strong, but the inconsistencies weakened his stock.
When he first left WWE 2021, it was disappointing, but it made sense. He wasn't being used like he could have. There was a modest amount of hope that his run in AEW would become special, but it did not.
Upon his return to WWE in 2024, fans hoped the 34-year-old old (now 35) star would make an impact. While he had a few bright moments, his second run with the company never made it out of first gear.
It's currently unknown why Andrade has left the company. Naturally, fans are speculating if his divorce from Charlotte Flair last year played a factor, but nothing has been confirmed.
Andrade will certainly be sought after by other promotions. He still has the potential to become a bigger star in the professional wrestling industry. If that happens, we may see him back in WWE one day.
