Professional wrestlers are always looking to put their best foot forward whenever they step into the ring. Whether it's taking place at a major WWE show or a small independent event, every wrestler wants to get to the back and at least be proud of their own performance. While not everything will be a five-star classic, performers rarely deliver truly awful encounters.

However, there are moments when things just don't work out, no matter how hard the people involved try to make something special. There are certain times when wrestlers have admitted to being embarrassed by their specific performances, and while it's rare to confess to such feelings, there have been plenty of occasions when it has happened.

Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels is widely regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, consistently delivering incredible performances throughout his career. However, the final match of his career is one that he was embarrassed by, as it ended up being a truly dreadful encounter. The Heartbreak Kid stepped out of retirement to team up with Triple H one more time against the Brothers of Destruction in what could have been a nostalgic and exciting moment.

However, the four veterans were all suffering from ring rust, which led to an encounter most people would like to forget. Triple H tore his pectoral muscle, Kane's mask fell off, and The Undertaker and Michaels struggled their way through, as HBK has admitted he wishes that he had never come out of retirement.

Bianca Belair

Bianca Belair has delivered amazing performances throughout her career, consistently stepping up when given the opportunity. However, even the EST of WWE has a match that she's embarrassed by, which took place at SummerSlam in 2021. Belair competed against Becky Lynch in what was essentially a squash match, as Lynch defeated her for the title in just 26 seconds.

This was done to immediately put Lynch over, with the idea being that Belair would get her moment later down the line. However, Belair told Metro that she was the most embarrassed she had ever been, which wasn't helped by the fact that her parents were in attendance and had no idea what was going to happen that night.

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes might be one of the biggest stars in WWE today, but he's been involved in an embarrassing match as well. It was an encounter that most fans likely would never remember, as it was just a random six-man tag team match on SmackDown during his first run with the company. However, he has brought it up multiple times over the years, which has led people to know that he was embarrassed by the situation.

The main reason for this is that the match ended so quickly, when it was supposed to last much longer. There was a mistake between the referee and Ted DiBiase Jr., and the aftermath meant that Rhodes couldn't even salvage the segment as Wade Barrett stormed to the back, in what was a moment Rhodes wasn't proud of.

Jey Uso

Sometimes, a match can be built up so much in the minds of fans and wrestlers that it is impossible to live up to it. At other times, the wrestlers themselves don't step up to the plate, and this was the case at WrestleMania 40 when Jimmy and Jey Uso competed against each other. It was a dream scenario for the twins to have a singles match on the Grandest Stage of Them All, but the encounter was disappointing.

Jey Uso has been open about the fact that they let fans down that night, which was a shame, as the Bloodline storyline was so hot. He felt like a lot of the issues were down to them not having much time, but given how much of it was spent simply trading superkicks, they could certainly have maximized their moment a bit more.

Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle was notorious for the intensity that he brought to the ring whenever he performed, but that was lacking throughout his final run in WWE. He felt that the decision to have him be a General Manager for so long after he returned hurt him, as his body seized up, and he stopped being able to deliver the quality of matches he wanted.

This is why Angle chose to retire from professional wrestling, and is why he's not the biggest fan of his final match. He and Baron Corbin didn't get very long in the first place, but it's a shame that he wasn't able to go out with a clinic, like fans knew Angle was capable of delivering.

WWE

Maxxine Dupri is in the early stages of her wrestling career , learning on the job as she develops her in-ring work. Fans have been able to see the progress she's making, but Dupri is her own harshest critic and has spoken openly about a match against Rhea Ripley that left her disappointed. Durpi felt like she let Ripley down and didn't do herself or her opponent justice in the ring.

Dupri has since admitted that it was the match where she knew that she had to go back to the drawing board and start again, which proves she managed to use the negative situation as inspiration, at least taking some positives from it.

Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey entered the wrestling industry as a seasoned star in the MMA world , thanks to her successful career in the UFC, but she quickly adapted to professional wrestling. Rousey was given opportunities to work against all of WWE's top stars, including Alexa Bliss. The two women had a competitive encounter, with Bliss being one of the most talented women on the roster, but Rousey has since admitted she was embarrassed by the match.

While everyone knows how the wrestling industry works, Rousey claims she thought it was ridiculous that Bliss could beat her, as she felt that the WWE Superstar was beneath her. Rousey believes the match only happened due to Bliss' merchandise sales, which Rousey is not proud of.

Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy's battles with sobriety have been well documented over the years, and one of the lowest points of his life, unfortunately, took place in the main event of a PPV. He was due to compete against Sting, in what had the potential to be a great encounter, but ended up being a disaster. Hardy wasn't sober when he stepped into the ring, and Eric Bischoff had to go down before the bell rang to change the finish on the fly.

Sting had to immediately beat Hardy due to safety concerns, which was a finish that left fans and Sting furious. Hardy had to apologize to the roster when he returned, and he has openly spoken about regretting ever since it took place.

The Undertaker

Stepping into the ring at WrestleMania is a significant moment, with wrestlers often stepping up their efforts for that specific night due to its importance. This is something The Undertaker is well aware of, due to his incredible undefeated streak, but not all of his matches were perfect. His match against Roman Reigns left him feeling embarrassed, with the Deadman struggling to watch back what he did that night.

The Undertaker was dealing with injuries and simply the passage of time catching up to him, as he made several mistakes and looked out of step, despite this being the main event. WWE's documentary team even captured Undertaker apologizing to Reigns at a later date due to how embarrassed he was by his individual performance, which is a rare sight to see.
