It is no secret that Jeff Jarrett shared a close bond with the late, great Owen Hart. Last year, Jarrett had the honor of competing in AEW’s Owen Hart Cup and even served as a special ringside enforcer during the Owen Cup finals on AEW Dynamite.

Following Hart’s tragic passing in 1999, fans have continued to cherish his memory, and Jarrett recently reflected on his friend’s enduring legacy, thanking AEW for recognizing Owen’s brilliance. In doing so, the WWE Hall of Famer also revealed that he sees ‘Hangman’ Adam Page as the closest modern embodiment of the Canadian legend.

During AEW’s The Good, The Bad and The Hangman special ahead of WrestleDream 2025, Jarrett drew a heartfelt comparison between Page and Hart.

I’ve run into so many guys through this business. Nobody, and I’ve said it over and over and over, nobody was like Owen. He was just such a unique kind of guy. Until I met you, Hangman. In a lot of ways — and that’s the good — you embody Owen. So, I carry a little bit of Owen and a little bit of Hangman with me everywhere I go.

Owen Hart, often cited by many as being every bit as talented, if not more so, than his legendary brother Bret Hart, enjoyed a remarkable career. His intense rivalry with Bret produced two iconic matches: their classic encounter at WrestleMania X, which Owen won, and their unforgettable rematch at SummerSlam later that year

Beyond those feuds, Owen captured the Intercontinental Championship and won the 1994 King of the Ring tournament, cementing his place among wrestling’s all-time greats. Legends such as Eddie Guerrero , Kurt Angle , and Mick Foley have all praised Hart’s talent, character, and kindness beyond the ring.

For Adam Page, being compared to someone as universally respected as Owen Hart is no small honor, and one that surely makes him proud.

Samoa Joe brutally attacks ‘Hangman’ Adam Page after their Wrestledream title bout

Samoa Joe recently announced that he plans to retire once his AEW contract expires, but not before capturing the AEW World Championship for a second time. What was originally a hastily scheduled WrestleDream showdown between Joe and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page quickly for the gold evolved into a brutal, emotionally charged war for the company’s top title.

In front of a fired-up crowd in St. Louis, Joe looked every bit the dominant veteran, using his trademark power and precision to dismantle the younger champion. From the opening bell, Joe tossed Page around the ring like a rag doll, asserting control through sheer strength.

The Texan fought back with his trademark agility and resilience, but the tone of the match changed drastically when the action spilled to the outside. Joe repeatedly rammed Page into the barricades before the champion rallied with a desperate burst of aerial offense. However, a mistimed Barrel Kick left Page bleeding from the mouth, signaling a major shift in momentum.

Sensing weakness, Joe ruthlessly targeted the wounded champion, grinding him down with punishing strikes and submission attempts. Yet, in true ‘Hangman’ fashion, Page refused to quit. He clawed his way out of Joe’s lethal Coquina Clutch and connected with two thunderous Buckshot Lariats to somehow secure the victory.

Though Page stood tall in the record books, his battered body told a different story. After the bell, an emotional Joe was consoled by his allies Katsuyori Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs. In a show of sportsmanship, Page extended his hand to Joe, only to be ambushed moments later by The Opps

Shibata and Hobbs viciously attacked the exhausted champion as Joe grabbed the AEW World Championship and taunted Page with it. The assault reached its peak when Joe placed the title at Page’s feet before his partners hoisted the broken champion onto the top turnbuckle and tossed him violently onto the belt below, leaving him motionless to close the beating.

Despite the savage assault, Page’s reign continues, now standing at 99 days. The resilient champion has already turned back top contenders such as MJF, Jon Moxley , Lee Moriarty, and Kyle Fletcher . But after this blood-soaked battle with Joe, one thing is certain: Hangman’s toughest fights may still be ahead.
