'I stole the whole idea,' Jey Uso admits to stealing current look from WWE Hall of Famer
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Jey Uso is one of the most popular superstars in WWE right now. His “Main Event” gimmick certainly went over well with fans, and his catchy theme song only makes things better. He revealed in an interview that his gimmick was inspired by Bret “The Hitman” Hart.

While speaking on the Battleground podcast, Jey Uso recalled an old advertisement that featured Bret Hart with his iconic look, donning pink glasses. The Yeet Master wanted to change the color of his glasses to blue. Although he wasn’t able to fully replicate the look, he admitted that the creative team managed to make it his own.

Since his fallout with The Bloodline, he has started his journey as a singles superstar on Monday Night Raw. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to win any championships in his solo journey due to constant interference from his cousins. Despite all of that, Jey still remained a perennial main eventer and defeated his brother Jimmy Uso at WrestleMania XL.

There was an old commercial with Bret Hart. Do you remember it? That commercial came on and he had the pink glasses. I’m automatically ‘Light bulb.’ Like I need blue ones. I wanted that. We couldn’t get it but kind of took it a little bit to make it mine. But I stole the whole idea from Bret Hart. Jey Uso via the Battleground podcast

Speaking of his current WWE run, he truly capitalized on his unexpected participation in the King of the Ring tournament. The 38-year-old star defeated Finn Balor despite the injured Drew McIntyre’s interference and also picked up a win over Ilja Dragunov in the second round. It will be interesting to see if Jey manages to book his ticket to Saudi Arabia or if Gunther once again reigns supreme against him.

Jey Uso received an emotional text from JoJo Offerman after Backlash entrance

Jey Uso received a thunderous welcome in France at the Backlash event ahead of his match against Damian Priest. All the fans whipped out their cellphones and waved their flashlights during his entrance, creating a striking atmosphere. He revealed that after the event concluded, Bray Wyatt‘s wife, JoJo Offerman, sent him an emotional message.

While speaking on the same podcast, the 38-year-old star stated that JoJo became very emotional while watching the flashlights come out once again. Wyatt used to receive the same response during his entrance, referring to the flashlights as his fireflies. Jey expressed his desire to make it an integral part of his entrance. It was his way to pay tribute to Windham Rotunda, who tragically passed away last year in August.

His wife, JoJo, Bray Wyatt’s wife had text me and just said how much she was emotional watching. She saw clips of it on YouTube, and that let me know right there, alright, I’m going to keep it. I hope it sticks with me, man. I never asked for it. They did it and I just want to keep it with me now. Jey Uso via the Batterground podcast

Speaking of his match at Backlash, although he did try to put up a fight against El Campion, the numbers game was just too much. Balor and JD McDonagh assisted Priest in securing the victory and retaining the title. Only time will tell when Jey will go after the big gold title once again.
