There is a status update on one "WWE Raw" superstar who is out of action due to an injury.
Injuries in the wrestling business pile up every year. Recently, Giulia dropped the NXT Women's Championship to Stephanie Vaquer amid an undisclosed injury. A slew of other "WWE NXT" stars have also been bitten by the injury bug.
The main roster has been no exception either. On the Jan. 27 episode of "Monday Night Raw," JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio of The Judgment Day were defeated by The War Raiders in a WWE World Tag Team Championship match. During the match, McDonagh hit a springboard moonsault on Ivar, but the back of McDonagh's head went crashing into the announce table.
While fans feared that McDonagh suffered a concussion, he was diagnosed with a punctured lung as well as broken ribs. During an appearance on "Insight with Chris Van Vliet," McDonagh said he feels ready to return right now, but he hasn't been medically cleared yet.
JD McDonagh on breaking a rib and puncturing his lung:

"I could feel my ribs on this side were like Rice Krispies under my skin, they're definitely messed up. I couldn't get a full lung full of air but I just thought that was because I was winded from hitting the table." pic.twitter.com/dcQHHGYvC9
McDonagh said that he knew he had cracked ribs immediately, but he didn't suspect his lung collapsed due to adrenaline taking over and allowing him to finish the match. McDonagh was checked on by WWE medical staff during the match, but it was his head and neck that were inspected. McDonagh said if his ribs had been looked at immediately, he wouldn't have been allowed to finish the match.
The Judgment Day member is hopeful that he will be back in the ring within a month. The Irishman is forced to miss WWE's current European tour. McDonagh admitted he's "jealous" of the WWE talent that have been booked for the tour.
