Another Monday Night Raw is in the record books. Much like the weeks before, every wrestling fan, critic, journalist and podcaster has an opinion on the latest episode of WWE’s flagship show.
You can expect a vast variety of takes: Some loved it, some didn't. Some are in between, others are indifferent.
One recent controversial topic stems from whether or not WWE is truly handling its mid-card roster like it should. Names like Carmelo Hayes, Lyra Valkyria, Andrade, Finn Balor, Drew McIntyre, Chelsea Green and Ludwig Kaiser are currently holding it down, so it’s not hard to see why.
You may notice several notable names that weren't mentioned above.
Up first is Bron Breakker, who seems to be thriving on the main roster as one of WWE’s brightest breakout stars. His transition from mid-carder to main eventer has pretty much been completed, given his newfound alliance with Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman.
Fans have been deeming him a future world champion since his main roster debut. He’s had some stellar stints as Intercontinental Champion and has put on some great matches with the likes of Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, Sheamus and the aforementioned Ludwig Kaiser throughout those runs.
Breakker hasn’t been given too much too quickly, but he’s also clearly been booked to look like a bona fide main event superstar while he waits for his day to come.
Another name that comes to mind is Jacob Fatu. He’s been booked similarly to Breakker: an imposing rookie monster who wrecks people.
LA Knight, while not elderly, is currently 42 years old. The Megastar has been given start/stop pushes ever since his meteoric rise on the main roster.
He isn’t exactly a spring chicken like he used to be, but he can still get the crowd to chant, “Yeah” every time he gives the signal. Knight has proven he’s got the charisma, the promo skills and ring savvy to be a world champion. That’s why it remains a mystery that he still has yet to win one.
Lastly, there’s Bayley. Sure, she might not be as big a draw as Becky Lynch, but anyone stating she hasn’t earned her stay in WWE should rethink things.
She found her footing with the hug life gimmick in NXT, but that started to fizzle out on the main roster. When that faded, she turned heel, realigned herself with Sasha Banks (now known as Mercedes Mone), and they made for great TV during WWE’s pandemic era.
She’s come through in the clutch for the company at times when Becky Lynch or Charlotte Flair weren't available, and that deserves a great deal of respect.
Alas, WWE’s current direction for The Role Model sees her written out of a scheduled high-profile WrestleMania match due to a blindside attack from Lynch? Something doesn’t add up.
Is WWE doing its mid-card roster justice? It might come as a shock, but it is, for the most part.
