At WrestlePalooza, Drew McIntyre faced Cody Rhodes in the main event for the Undisputed WWE Championship. It was a hard-fought battle, but in the end, Rhodes walked away still the champion. The match wasn’t free of controversy, though. There were many times where the referee was either obstructing McIntyre from doing damage to Rhodes or being slow on the pin count.
He noticed that firsthand, as was said on the September 26, 2025, episode of Friday Night SmackDown. He came out to complain about the refs and how he should’ve won while sporting a walking boot on his right foot. After a while, he got interrupted by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, who said that the referee’s decision was final and that he should stop complaining. But what came after Aldis’ interruption angered him even more.
Fatu has had a whirlwind summer involving My Family Tree. At Money in the Bank, he turned on group leader Solo Sikoa. SummerSlam saw him fail to capture the United States Championship from Sikoa. About a month ago, he helped Sami Zayn win the United States Championship. It seemed like he would pop up either in defense of Zayn or make a return with the MFT’s sneak attacking him.
However, neither of those things were true. Instead, he made himself known to a very angry Scottish Warrior. What’s interesting about this confrontation is that right now, their approaches couldn’t be more different. Fatu is always doing things his way, making moves to go up the ladder. McIntyre is complaining, making excuses and blaming everyone else for his troubles. Perhaps that’s why Fatu returned at this moment.
He stood face to face with McIntyre and started yelling at him. Obviously sick of his complaining, he stole the microphone right out of his hand. Then the promo battle was on. They yelled for a while, with each man reminding each other who they were. McIntyre obviously wanted to hurt Fatu, but pointed out his injury. That didn’t stop Fatu from getting face to face with him.
The action resulted in an emphatic Glasgow Kiss, and the two men started brawling. He grabbed McIntyre’s walking boot while he was on the ground, then hit him in the face with it. Leaving McIntyre lying on the ground, he left the ring having accomplished a lot in a little amount of time. The only time they’ve faced each other was in a fatal four-way match at Backlash for the United States Championship. A fresh feud featuring two great athletes will be great for both SmackDown and the viewing audience.
