NXT Superstar Jordynne Grace is taking an unfortunate in-ring moment in stride. Following a widely circulated clip of her botched suicide dive during a WWE NXT match against Jaida Parker, Grace turned to X (formerly Twitter) on April 9 to poke fun at herself—and address the online backlash.
Oh y’all MFs never seen a REAL suicide dive?! https://t.co/KEgQ20RdV8— Jordynne Grace (@JordynneGrace) April 9, 2025
Writing, "Oh y’all MFs never seen a REAL suicide dive?!", Grace tried to take partial control of the narrative and online reactions to a move gone wrong. Grace attempted the high-risk maneuver, only to get tangled in the ropes and fall awkwardly to the outside. Several wrestling accounts shared the clip and quickly gained traction across social media, with fans pointing fingers and poking fun at her. Saying things like 'it's no wonder she's in developmental', it was a largely unfair reaction to a move that gets messed up by plenty of wrestling talents.
Rather than ignore the moment, Grace leaned into the humor, quote-posting the video with a lighthearted comment. Taking a jab at herself, she effectively took the impact of fans ' mean comments.
The “suicide dive” is a popular but often botched move in wrestling. It requires a wrestler to do a headfirst dive through the ropes to the outside of the ring without getting their feet tangled in or brushing the ropes. It often doesn't go well. Unfortunately for Grace, she went straight down, hit the floor, and missed her opponent completely.
Like a top-rope jump -- which also gets messed up a lot and was just recently by Jey Uso -- the suicide dive goes sideways nearly as often as it goes well. Frankly, it's surprising that so many wrestlers use the move, given how on point the timing and trajectory of the body has to be. Despite its popularity, the maneuver is notoriously difficult to execute consistently, and botches are common even among seasoned veterans.
Grace received criticism this week, but what's most intriguing is why she works the move into her arsenal at all. Her frame and strength are her meal ticket, and adding a move like this offers little upside.
She was smart to diffuse much of the negativity by taking a lighthearted shot at herself. She's be even smarter to just get rid of the move from her moveset altogether.
